Hey, hi Adam, I'm supposed to be dashing off to the UK for a family emergency, but have been held up by 24 hours due to a typhoon in Hong Kong (http://onenews.nzoom.com/onenews\_detail/0,1227,218034-1-9,00.html -- how come everyone *else* knew about this and not me??) While kicking around today came across your Lounge post. I probably can't answer it all in full, but if you want some advice or whatever, do drop me an email, which I'll pick up in a week or so. I moved out to NZ from London back in 1999, for a one year holiday, decided I liked the place so much and stayed. Great lifestyle!! Personally,I'd recommend living on the South Island. While Christchurch isn't the greatest city--it is in my opinion parochial and conservative--it does have *fantastic* access to the outdoor lifestlye! Snowboarding one hour from my front door. Surfing a 3 minute jog from my front door (ah, the beauty of Sumner!) Port Hills (for mountain biking, climbing, ...) just behind me. Wellington would be somewhere else I would probably be very happy to live, but I've only spent about 6 weeks on the North Island, compared to my nearly 4 years on the South Island. (Note to myself: must go back north again soon...) Lots of websites around: nzjobs.co.nz, seek.co.nz, ... Yeah, drop me an email. Oh, and I must remeber to ask Chris about good places to go to in Melbourne--heading over there for a weekend with my girlfriend next month... after the rugby World Cup of course. As a Pom living in NZ I don't feel I can loose in this years World Cup :-D Cheers, Jon
