The icons are not part of the .NET Framework. The internal implementation of MessageBox.Show just calls the Platform SDK function MessageBox, passing a flag value that specifies the icon you want displayed. The icons themselves are stored as resources in user32.dll.

Inherit a class from System.Diagnostics.TraceListener. On application start, add an instance of this class to the System.Diagnostics.Trace.Listeners and/or System.Diagnostics.Debug.Listeners collections. Every time you use Trace.Writexxx or Debug.Writexxx, it will be logged through your class. If you change/expand your logging facilities at some time, you don't have to change any client code, just your TraceListener.

add it to the GAC and it should. The reason is because vs did the regsvr32.exe for you. It hasnt changed just the options

Yep, that is pretty much it. I think the connection pooling is more for ASP.NET but also think that when you are holding on to a connection, that is one more connection license being used on the server. If you happen to run against MSDE, there are only five I believe before it throttles down. You have to use planning though, as there is an time overhead in establishing those connections depending on where the server is located. Rocky Moore <><

I think that any function called from a delegate will normally be executed on a thread from the thread pool. Thus it will not be executed on Thread A or Thread B. I have some memory of a way of getting a delegate to execute on a particular thread, but can't recall the details right now.

Try Debug.WriteLine("Hello World"); ... and don't forget the using System.Diagnostics;

There's no support for this in the API. If your text can fit on a 16x16 icon, then you can create an icon dynamically with the text on it. Otherwise, you'll have to be extremely creative, possibly finding the system tray window, and creating a child window inside it. It's not that simple either. You might even have to subclass the taskbar so that you can stop the taskbar's default tray positioning, which means writing a DLL and using either SHLoadInProc() or a system-wide hook to get into explorer's address space... If you manage it, write an article :). You might want to find another way of showing the information though. It's probably not worth the effort of reprogramming Windows.
