'the imperative goto == the object oriented if', both have their uses and allow misuse. The degree of misuse is telling ...

BA offshored 700 IT jobs last year..Can't say much but will be going 'there' to try and fix it. It is not the people 'there' themselves that are to blame, they can do it and are of good intent.

Tired of Stack Overflow and GitHub? Here are the alternatives.Forgive me saying so but having been around for 30 years I have noticed inflation here on CP (quality of articles deteriorated with exceptions) and battle on SO for getting points. I used to contribute heavily to Experts Exchange in the past and learned a lot helping other people there. I do see a pyramid with a few experienced and knowledgeable individuals at the top and a bulk of wannabees under that. Once again, forgive me saying so.

Windows 10 BSODNo BSOD yet after upping to 10 but there are some nasty quirks here like the start button or task bar becoming disabled after some time and video stalling or losing sound after some time. Hoping it will get fixed.

Interesting Article on the demise of StackOverflow as being useful for beginnersI second the article, did very well on experts exchange 'in the old days' until amongst other reasons it closed itself in a way. I see wannebees that are hunting points inflating the qualtity of it all, and that is not just on stack overflow unfortunately. Too bad.

Quality of Code Project diminishingI second that, seems like an advertising board a lot of times when looking at posted articles. Luckily there still is quality content as well.

Team Lead AdviceI can't write a book here and there is no single answer. The invariant in all cases is having a group of people that are all different and have different additions to the team. So who are they, what do they want, what are their abilities and what are they willing to commit to the common thing. And then you, having a feel for all of that trying to enable and combine them into a smoothly working team moving forward. I do so in a cooperative way but I do lead.

Antivirus is 'completely wasted money'Stopped that long ago without problems, it is just a matter of being savvy enough to not do things that would harm my machine.

Mozilla AdBlock AddonYou do not want to block indiscriminately but you will want to be the one that controls what does and what does not get thruogh (this isn't fred). Too often you wonder 'how can I get rid of this?' only to find there is no easy way. Then they think 'if we make it too easy they will turn off everything' and so they make it hard. Crying foul play when there is some successful ad blocker is rather childish and is provocative. You could sponser a site by allowing its ads selectively which is a good thing and a site could mention it. But I do not like my freedom of choice being taken away from me. It is all a matter about respect I guess.
