If you are talking about .NET apps, yes. If you are talking about C++ apps, you need to download gdi+ dlls from Microsoft and install them in Win98 machine before running the app.

Actually I think I've found the tool I was looking for: http://www.oraxcel.com/projects/sqlxl/ I thought about writing my own tools that use XML/XLS but the problem is that although that is a very flexible solution, its not exactly the most user friendly option. The people here that will utlimately be using this tool wont be able to learn xml or xls. I could write a tool to easily create templates for what they want, but that takes time and the above tool is pretty much just what we are looking for. We currently write scripts to export the data in CSV format and load that in excel and manually format the data. Going to xml->xls would be a much better approach but it still has 2 or 3 steps that just dont seem like they should be there, at least not to our people using it. Thanks for the response Dave Ratti

If you have the oracle client installed, you can peruse the Oracle Universal Installer Concepts Guide Release 2.2 (Part Number A96697-01), particularly the section in Chapter 3 on creating and using a response file. Essentially, you can run through the installer, having oracle installer keep track of your responses, then create an silent install using those parameters. You can start with a simple hardcoded install, then move toward customizing the response file. I've used installshield installs to let the user decide where to install oracle, then modify the RSP file accordingly. But it's definitely best to let Oracle handle the guts of the install. When a form is closed, it disposes of itself. You may still have a valid reference to the form and it won't be null/nothing, but it is a useless reference: any access to it results in ObjectDisposedException. Make sure you aren't trying to access properties/methods after it has closed.

Look into an "Iterator" design pattern. I'm not sure...there might even be an interface for it in the .NET framework. There are only 10 types of people in this world....those that understand binary, and those that do not.

You can make a dll library that holds the shared classes and you can access those classes from any project you want by including a reference to that dll project. To add such a project to your solution right click the solution in the Solution Explorer and select Add --> New Project and select Class Library and create a new project somewhere. Then to add references to that library and to make dependencies right click on the projects you want to set the dependency on and click dependencies. Then click the checkbox in front of the dll library and it automatically adds references to that poject and you can use those classes that you put in the dll library by just adding a: #using dllNamespace directive in the files you want to use it.

All right nevermind, I seemed to have fixed it. I installed DirectX 9a and now all my .dll files are there. Still very weird though.
