Hi I've created a MFC activeX control in vc++ 6.0. I am using that control in vb 6. I am catching the events fired by the control in the VB application. The problem is that when i step through the application in VB i catch all the events thrown by the control however when i compile the application and run it i am unable to catch the events. Also when i debug the application in Visual C++ i can see that the events are being fired properly but VB application does not respond appropriately. Any body know why this might be happening? Thanks

Hi there, Was wondering if anybody why i get this exception while sending data over a socket. I am using CAsyncSocket for socket connections. I am getting error code 0 when i catch the exception and call GetLastError(). I cant seem to be able to trace why this is happening as the error generates randomly. Any advice on how to handle this and i would really appreciate if somebody could help me out on this. Thanks

I've built a client server application built in visual c++ sp5 inheriting from the CAsyncSocket class. Also i am spinning of a thread when my application starts which is used only for logging purposes. My problem is that the application sometimes just disappears without giving any error message. i've put try catch blocks everywhere and have been as defensive as possible but this is happening at random positions so am not sure what to do at this point. Any ideas why this might be happening? The operating system is windows 2000 server and using a intel P4 HTT machine.

is there any way i can trace the function where the breakpoint function was reached. I've tried the "crash finder" application but that couldnt trace the function either. I've put exception handlers all over but the application crashes at some point. The application always crashes at the same address and i cant really trace the condition where this is happening. I am writing all my the function names in a file to trace the condition but the application breaks off at a different point with the same address location. Any ideas people?

sure you can change the mac address....search for it on the web and you'll find applications like SMac which you can use to change the mac address for your ethernet card.

hi there i've made an activeX control which is capable of playing wav files. i was wondering how i could use this control so that i could actually hear the content on the web using IE or any other browser. Also the reason i've developed this control is that i need to play vox files which are automatically converted through the control. Any ideas,opnions or workarounds on how i could use this control to stream on the web or local lan? also are there any open source or free vox converters or players available? Thanks

ok maybe i am explaining this wrong. Here's the actual scenario: 1. We query the server about all the possible city names available and fills the combo box with all the names. Eg. AA,AB,AC and AD 2. When the customer enters a phone number we search the database and if the phone number exists then i just want the combo box to show the city that the matches the phone number for Eg. AB is the city the number matches to then AB should be selected in the combo box. If the number matches no city then we do nothing. 3. We also DONT want the customer to be able to edit the combo box field. 4. The customer can also SELECT a city himself if he wants to by selecting a value from the combo box. anyways thanks for even lookin at this

i need to select a particular text and the user should not be able to edit the combo box. Thanks for the reply

well i need to set text for a combo and i dont want anyone else to be able to edit the text. Once some text has been selected the user can also be able to choose an item from the combo meaning i dont want the lock property. I've set the style to 0 and i can do the set text part but it is editable. When i set the combo style property to 2 then i cant set text in the combo. Any ideas what i am missing out on??

Any ideas on how to start off a QA team since i have no idea about the QA tools being used in the market or what kind of expertise a candidate should have. Any ideas on how to go on about this?? we are basically working on Visual C++ 6.0 for the core part and Visual basic 6.0 for the GUI part. Also are there any books on this topic both specific to these tools and somewhat general books?? Also i've heard of PC-lint any one using that?? Thanks for your help.

hehe you must be kidding dude.. getting 2400$ in 3 days is a hell lot of money.. earning that kindda money takes almost 8 months for me....and i've been coding for 2 years now and most people think that i am one of those "lucky ones" to get that much if i get some free lance stuff to do along with my present job. Any ideas where i can get that kindda money???? :) :)..
