I agree with you, but most of the time there *IS* an index file, giving the name and offset of each separate resource in the master file. Sometimes this index is embedded in the master file itself, at the beginning or at the end, sometimes it has been generated as a header file, and is included in the software itself. So, I think only changing the size of one of the embedded file should often fail, you'll have to locate the index file and modify it too. If it's in the exe... it becomes really really difficult.
