What you're describing is a proxy server, not a firewall. There are various proxy protocols you have to implement in your server, plus a rather deep knowledge of TCP/IP and Sockets would be required to pull this off. Forget the Internet Connection SHaring and DHCP Server stuff. They have nothing to do with the ultimate goal of the project (as you described it anyway). Leave the DHCP stuff to an off-the-shelf implementation. One even comes with Windows Server. The .NET classes are pretty much all going to be under System.Net. What you use depends on the design of your server. Warning: This project is going to require advanced skills in networking and socket communications. I d´ont know but i really d´ont like replication to :doh: I think you have a problem there i d´ont see how you can get "the best of two worlds"!!! I would create a parent database and child databases (1 or more doesn´t matter). But, i would really in fact create one database, the parent one. So, let the users connect to the database, if sucess ok else let it connect to the child database. The child database would trigger a check (say every 5 min) in the parent to see if can connect, if so update parent: empty the child and fill parent with data. Invest in datetime variables here to get records ordered! But, it can get really messy if you critical data (when you can´t make something before others or same time) let only connect to parent database then. That´s for editing procedures, for report procedures make whatever, just show all you got(data), display the report date and if is a "blue-print", not 100% check accurate good luck :doh: nelsonpaixao@yahoo.com.br trying to help & get help

Well actually I never use typed datasets either :-O. I'm afraid I like to manage all the processes myself and am happy to pay the penalty with the additional code to achieve the level of control I require. Try to avoid Crystal Reports/BO, you will see many unanswered queries here for that horrible thing. We use Reporting Services and are very happy with it, but there are a number of solutions out there. All will require a fair learning curve but at least most are stable (unlike CR). If you're programming under .NET, I would suggest to use Microsoft's Reporting Technology (I think Crystal Report is a little more complicated, but that's just my personal opinion). It's easy--all you have to do is to design a report (Add new item -> Report), create an instance with parameters and attach it to your program. You don't have to worry about print margins or layout. They can be set by changing some variables, unlike HTML, which you'd have to mess with CSS. This is especially useful when you have to print labels. Plus, The Reporting Technology and Crystal Report comes with VS2005. If you're programming .NET you should have them installed already.
