We've built multiple dashboards in Metabase and love the a) ease with which users can create simple queries, and b) how a good SQL writer can make complex queries with lots of joins and unions and c) how it turns the results into graphs and pivots. And since we run it on our servers, it's free.

What is the status of report generation these days? -
Programming Languages - Fun with Rexx?I used REXX extensively as a System Programmer in a VM/DOS/VSE/MVS shop back in the day. So easy to use compared to Assembler and PL/I. When I was promoted to manage the application programming staff I built a full project management application with it. The simple, natural syntax was really refreshing. Totally off topic, I also enjoyed hobby programming in Forth, especially the excellent books by Thom Hogan.

Age test...Agreed. March of.

What is your favourite film (that didn't make much money)?Harold and Maude, Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon. Didn't make a profit until 12 years after it was released.

What made you start coding?I was hanging paper and tapes and feeding punch cards. There was an IBM video course on Assembler in a closet. Looked like a challenge so I committed many hours of my off-work time to viewing (and reviewing) them until it stuck. It impressed the manager and he gave me an opportunity. Worked up to CIO and now, at the tail end of my career, I code in C#, SQL, and batch jobs. Full circle.

What would you recommend me?I used Anuko for years, both the hosted and on prem versions, and found it to do exactly what a consulting organization needs. Super easy to use and can be modified to meet your needs.
