  • correction: Microsoft is a virus. They wreck every software tool they try to re-brand as a Microsoft product.

one example is the illegal monopolistic tactics they used many years ago to destroy WordPerfect`s market share, ditto.. NetScape browser, DBase etc., etc. After working on it for many decades, MSFT still can`t get Windows OS to be anything more than a disgusting, overly-bloated security nightmare.

  • Win 10: Is it a Microsoft con job ?
    M Member 11720681

Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols article in Computerworld | Feb 12, 2016 raises some important issues about the Win 10 vs Win 7 and XP. Steve, who has seen the entire evolution of PC OSs since CP/M, concludes "To me, the more interesting question is 'How is Windows 10 doing compared to Windows 7?' What I see is that Windows 10 “seems” to be catching up. Why is that happening? I don’t think it’s because people are eager to move to Windows 10. Everything I’ve seen indicates that Windows 10 has gained traction not because it’s a major improvement over Windows 7 — it’s not — but because Microsoft has been pushing Windows 10 on users" My take away is there's no reason to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10. His comments regarding Linux Mint 17.3 are also interesting

  • Is Win10 the biggest Microsoft con since Vista ?
    M Member 11720681

Think about it..Microsoft is on a big PR campaign to get Win7/8.1 to upgrade to Win10...BUT Win 10 1 has a much longer boot than 7/8.1 2 has a "phase2 boot" (after the desktop displays it continues to spin the hard drive to complete the boot process) 3 is loaded with "junk" apps that can't be uninstalled (e.g. OneNote) 4 is no more secure than Win7/8.1 5 requires more 'updates' per month than 7/8.1 I have Win10, Win7 Pro and Win 8,1 installed on 3 identical PCs and Win 10 is the worst performing. As far as I'm concerned there a reason why the percentage of Win 7 installations is six times greater than Win 10 installs. Win 10 IS the biggest Microsoft con job since Vista
