  • Math Formulas are not Rendered Properly
    M Member 4201813

Math formulas are currently displayed simply as raw TeX commands without interpreting them.

The ability to use math in articles was a feature making CodeProject far ahead of competitors so I hope it could be brought back. I would also note that given current popularity of machine learning and AI subjects, articles with some math could appear even more frequently than before.

  • "Callout" Blocks are not Rendered Properly
    M Member 4201813

Old CodeProject markup included <div class="callout"> blocks which were shown as text boxes with colored background making them easy to notice.

Currently I see no difference between such blocks and ordinary text.

Here is an example of article extensively using this markup element and its archived copy with old look.

The same problem with Python, C# and preformatted text as well. It worked, however, some days ago.

  • My profile history and articles are missing
    M Member 4201813

    @Richard-Deeming
I have exactly the same problem: the same 10 articles from Graeme are attributed as mine.

Regarding my own 5 articles, two of them are indeed marked as mine (although not listed in my profile), while remaining three are linked to Sean Ewington (IIRC, he was the Code Project editor who kindly helped me with publication process).

  • Missing page links in article directory?
    M Member 4201813

Hello! I've noticed following: 1. Open an article directory section, say, Algorithms[^] 2. Look at the "Great Reads" section. You can see this article here: Permutations: Fast Implementations and a New Indexing Algorithm allowing Multithreading[^] 3. Scroll down to the "All Articles" section. Make sure they are sorted by score. You can see this article among the first ones (the third at this moment). 4. Sort articles by title. Scroll to the end of the page. You can see now that the last article title starts with "F", so our article starting from "P" is missing and there are no page links to next pages or whatever else to show the rest of the directory. This testcase has been reproduced on Windows using both Firefox and Chrome. Hope you find this information useful.

  • Statistics Rant

To the best of my knowledge, median is more robust to outliers. Let's have 9 measurements of something which are all equal to 100k and one equal to 1B. If we could justify that such an outlier is some measurement error, we could exclude it, but if we couldn't, we must deal with it as is. Now we need to find some "typical" single value which describes this sample in the best way. Their average (mean) would be (9*100,000 + 1,000,000,000)/10 = 100,090,000. At the same time, median is 100,000 which is closer to reality, as for me.

  • Thumbnail image is not visible on the site home page
    M Member 4201813

Dear CodeProject editors, I've added a thumbnail image to this article: Reverse-engineering Linear PRNG with Exploratory Seeding[^] today but it is not visible on the site home page. The added image is present in the "Source Code & Images" when I reopen article in the editor but not in the "Article Thumbnail" section. I've also noticed that the article information shown on the site home page also contains an outdated set of tags which has also been fixed today. Thank you in advance for some assistance.

  • Unable to remove some irrelevant tag
    M Member 4201813

I've tried to change tags for my article, Reverse-engineering Linear PRNG with Exploratory Seeding[^]. Initially they were: C++, Dev, Intermediate, random and I've added one more, RNG. After submitting the updated version for review, I've noticed that some other tag, Objective-C, has also been added. So I reopened the article editor and removed that tag simply by wiping it from the text box. After submitting this updated version, I've noticed that removed tag remained unchanged. Note that in this later update nothing has been changed except this tag.

  • Discussing changes proposed by the editor
    M Member 4201813

I've recently written an article which has been later checked and corrected by CodeProject editor. Great work, thank you! There are some proposed changes, however, which I would like to discuss and, maybe, express a bit differently. What is the preferred way to do this? Should I simply prepare an update to my article and post it as usually or should I somehow contact the editor directly? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    M Member 4201813

I would like to say "thanks" to Code Project editor who kindly helped me polishing my article. Also, I feel it could be useful to have an ability to discuss proposed changes, etc. I would be very thankful for any suggestions how to do that in the right way.
