Everyone seems to be working from the premise of protection of their ASSets. While I do not disagree that you need to protect your own interests, you are their consultant and if you see a danger to them, you need to tell them that and let them make a decision regarding taking care of it or not. This protects you and informs them. If their company is compromised, they will know that you were right, but if you never told them, they will wonder why you didn’t tell them to begin with, and they will question your abilities as a consultant to them.

What it would come down to is target market. I was just thinking about that myself -- and what it came to, is that in the next year my company will be fully windows Vista, so I don't think that will be a problem for me, when I go forward. I'm in a limited market and can control my environment, but if I were selling, I would need to consider compatablity. If you know your target, then that makes the decision for you. Michael White

Well break it down: Choice A:   Learn a new language that is not in your comfort zone Choice B:   Emotional intrigue from above and inside the department.

I would look at it as a chance to learn a new language that will give me insight to my favorite subject, programming. When you learn a new language, it gives you insights to the underlining ideas that govern all coding languages. The interaction between your code to the hardware and/or OS becomes clearer and clearer the more that you use other languages as well as your own preferred platform. Each language has standard techniques which can usually be applied to another language, giving you more tools to solve unique problems. As for the girl, just start a conversation with her, get to know her and start meeting her for lunch.
