Can David go a serious drink? :-D Chris Maunder wrote: Watcha been up to lately - you've been quit(er). Seriously I have just been trying to get functioning/being the person I was a few years ago. I know that sounds stupid. But the time I spent out of work, the shitty job I have now and the fact we have squandered so much money in the past 7-8 years has me struggling to focus on stuff. I haven't opened Visual Studio in over a year. I think I would struggle to code something more than Hello World. I try and read up on stuff and learn and it just falls out the ears. I have started a project at work to refurbish old computers and install Linux/FreeBSD to give to the underpriveleged. But I havent been able to find the time to read enough doco to be productive. It's just pathetic. I started the project to get back some Unix type skills and to improve my networking knowledge. I have been getting sub-contract work through another company fixing computers/networks at SME's. It has been enjoyable but I want to move up to the meatier jobs and I need to learn more to do it. But need to do it to have access to the stuff I need to learn. Also the other company (husband and wife) are going on a cruise in a few months and I get to look after their ISP for them. This means soon I should have free ADSL but I don't know what usage limits I will have. I have refinanced the car so I can almost afford to keep it (can't afford to lose it) and the wife is finally looking for work after 8 years or so off. If she gets one I win two fold. More money coming in and less opportunity for her to spend what we don't have. I think once we have organised ourselves so we can create a budget, stick to it and start to clean up our debt and get back on top things I will start to cope again. Might even be able to learn new stuff again and maybe, just maybe I will post an article or two. But it will cost you a heavy drinking session.
