Not meaning to sound rude, but, um, why?

If they are really long, then perhaps. But, I personally find it easier to look at a thread if I can expand it and refer back to other posts. I find that the alternative method, fully quoting the thread, gets messy and harder to read if it is all inside one post. While it would be nice, very rarely will somebody reply to a thread by pulling out and quoting only the important information. Usually, it's all or nothing. Present company excluded. :-D

It would be nice to be able to read (expand) all messages of a thread, rather than one message at a time. The thread could then be easily printed, or a separate "print version" could be added as well.

  • Alternatives to DataTable Searches?
    P Paul Gates

Thanks for the reply. I will combine this with an answer I saw in the MSDN newsgroups. Basically, the MSDN answer was to manually go through the rows and doing a RegEx pattern search. While that could be slow with tens of thousands of rows, if I implement your solution first, I will at least have some rows filtered out. Again, if anybody has a better idea, I'm all ears. Thanks again, PAGates

  • Alternatives to DataTable Searches?
    P Paul Gates

Hi All, I have a DataTable in a Windows Forms project that I would like to use a Select statement. The problem is, I'd like to be able to do wildcard searches (including single character searches). The DataTable only supports multiple-character searches (*), and only at the beginning or end of the search criteria. What are my alternatives? I'd rather not have to go back to the database, unless that is the best way. The DataTable was a performance enhancement. Thanks, pagates

  • WinForms User Control in VB6 App
    P Paul Gates

Hi All, I have developed a set of User Controls for an application that we would now like to backfill into a VB6 application. I believe that it is possible to create an ActiveX control out of the User Control and embed it in a WebBrowser, but I haven't found any good examples of this. Could anybody point me to one? Alternatively, if anybody has any better solutions, I'd be very happy to hear them. Thanks, Paul

  • MS Certification vs. Advanced Degree
    P Paul Gates

Hello All, I was just wondering if there was anybody out there (particularly hiring managers or others with a hand in interviewing and hiring) with an opinion on this: With all else (other qualifications, experience, salary, etc.) being equal, do hiring managers prefer prospective applicants to have an advanced degree (Masters or higher), or a MS Certification in the relative field? I realize that this is a wide open question, but I'm just looking to get a feel for the general opinions out there. Just curious, Paul

  • Search Result Suggestions
    P Paul Gates

Hello All, I think that it would be helpful to have some indication of the number of results when doing a search. Right now, there is a "Next Page" and "Previous Page", but nothing says how many pages there are, or the number of return results. This would be more handy the more general a search is (if I do a very general search, I don't want to sort through 100's of Next pages). Speaking of general searches, it might be nice to be able to subsearch within search results. Also, it would be nice to be able to search a particular area by default (like the Filter in the navigation area on the left), instead of or in addition to just Articles or Authors.
