Well you can't override non-virtual/abstract methods or properties and I can't change Microsoft's base classes. Pretty annoying because it would be a simple solution to a now a more complex problem. I am guessing I will have to make a wrapper.

Yes... it is even hard for ME to duplicate as it doesn't happen in all circumstances. I have tried my class on other files successfully. The one in this particular debug was the only one giving me the issue at the time and there is nothing I can isolate. See my other recent posts if you are curious but I did solve the issue with a workaround while I change the class to inherit from Stream instead of FileStream for the final solution.

You are not following what I mean by redundant. I mean redundant in that I have to add the Interface to every single derived class rather than just the base class. You also don't seem to get that part of the point of doing things this way is because conceptually it is more robust. This is one use of CRTP's in C++.
