I would recommend the following web interfaces for project tracking. Trac, and Gforge. Trac is great. Its python based I think. There are some open source tools that can be used in conjuction very similar to the MS excel/project solution someone mentioned. As always sourceforge.net has a plethora of open source solutions for this

We've been using the Microsoft Team Foundation Server since it's beta release and have been very happy with it. On the surface it appears to be somewhat expensive, but when you factor in the costs of building and maintaining your own system it is much less expensive. There is a free 180 day trial, fully functional, from Microsoft. It may be worth your time to give it a try. Jim Conigliaro jconigliaro@ieee.org
