Stop whining, I thought you were the "Outlaw Programmer". Take some of your own advice and "tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass."

"If you were marooned on a island with the natives that are cannibals, and you had to program your way off the island, who would you want to be there to help you?" No one, because we would just argue about the best way to code ourselves off the island. Love programming, hate programmers. :)

I STILL haven't found a description of how to set it up for development. I've been looking most of the day.

If it is such a pile of "crap" as you say, why would you even want to develop for it? Only flies congregate on "crap"

My point is that I posted a question three hours ago, and it's STILL not on the site because every post appears to be moderated. This also means you won't be able to call crap "crap" because they'll filter all the adverse comments out. That's certainly a good way to get feedback, yessiree.

Perhaps it's not the question, but the way you ask the question on the forum that is the problem. Try using some tact, if you have any. You call your self a programmer, so I am pretty sure if someone came to you asking about a program you wrote and calling it "crap" you'd be thrilled as well?

Someone is having a bad day  I happen to like it a lot, despite its shortcomings.

    The documentation is sub-standard

Compared to the documentation of other products like this I think its actually pretty good. I wish they would update it more often.

    the performance is horrendous

I think this really depends on the version, and the way it is set up on the server. The later versions are really pretty responsive. And if the server caching is set up right it gets faster the more the site is used.

and making their forums moderated is a very real detriment to productivity so much so that it renders them completely useless as an avenue of prompt community-driven support.

I guess I don't see your point here. I have never had an issue with the forums.
