The answer will hugely depend on the source of data that is being served. If you have some source of data that you need to put on your webpage after a regular interval then it can be easily done using AJAX. in fact, you can do it using simple ASP.NET updatepanel and timer control only. Waiting is in general a bad idea, and timing the actions of your software is the way to madness. Can you tell us why you need to wait, or on what specifically? Are you waiting for a signal, such as user-input? Waiting until a process is finished? Waiting until there's data on the socket? Bad idea. The point of unit test is to verify that the code works. That isn't your goal here. So what you need to is the following. 1. Create some code that demonstrates the failure. NOT a unit test itself but it certainly as a method that is suitable for use in a unit test. 2. Create a unit test that calls the code of 1. 3. Figure out the bug by running 2. 4. Re-write 1/2 as necessary to insure that the unit test run will verify, now and in the future, that your code works and continues to work. By the way intermittent failures are often due to threads. So if you don't have any unit tests that test threading you need to add those.

I agree with this answer. I am *SUPER* anal about my code formatting. I mean, really, super duper anal. So I thought FxCop would be my new BFF. Sadly no. I found most of its demands to be too pretentious for my tastes and quickly uninstalled it.
