  • WinHelp not working properly in MFC
    V vermaashish_mca

Hi We have implemented the functionality of "What's this" help button in our MFC code. When select "What's this" help menu and press any control then help is displayed properly; but while click on the buttons of the toolbar, windows message "Windows.hlp file is not found. Will you locate /specify the file by yourself" with Yes and No button appeared. After some time message disappears automatically. And We also do not found windows.hlp at our system. We have facing this issue at windows 7 (KB917607 is applied) and at windows XP while trying to display the help message at same toolbar button help displayed successfully. Thank You

  • How to Handle Logoff event for console based application
    V vermaashish_mca

Hi I have created a console application (.exe), and we have used SetConsoleCtrlHandler for signal handling i.e. "CTRL + C" and Log Off and Shutdown Events. We are properly able to handle the "CTRL+C" event but Logoff and Shut down events cannot be handled properly. Following content is mentioned at MSDN: ======================================================== The system generates CTRL_CLOSE_EVENT, CTRL_LOGOFF_EVENT, and CTRL_SHUTDOWN_EVENT signals when the user closes the console, logs off, or shuts down the system so that the process has an opportunity to clean up before termination. Console functions, or any C run-time functions that call console functions, may not work reliably during processing of any of the three signals mentioned previously. The reason is that some or all of the internal console cleanup routines may have been called before executing the process signal handler. ======================================================== Please suggest how we can properly handle Logoff and shutdown event by our console application. Or please suggest any other technique (if available) for handling the logoff and shutdown event by the console based application. Thank You

  • While launching a winapp as ole server some time OnFIleNew() failed
    V vermaashish_mca

Hi While launching a MFC application(.exe) as OLE server, some time CWinApp::OnFileNew() gets failed; due to this frame window cannot be created and handle to the main window (m_pMainWnd) becomes NULL and error message "Error occurs in mfc42.dll" appeared. At windows XP, CWinApp::OnFileNew() failed in 1 out of 100 times. We have not implemented the OnFileNew() in our application; we are using default implementation of OnFileNew(). As per MSDN CWinApp::OnFileNew implements this command differently depending on the number of document templates in the application. If there is only one CDocTemplate, CWinApp::OnFileNew will create a new document of that type, as well as the proper frame and view class. Problem occurs only at one system and frequency is one out of 100 and error message "Error occurs in mfc42.dll" appeared. Thank You
