You don't do this stuff in the Service. You do it in a seperate application that puts it's interface behind the tray icon and talks to the service through whatever interprocess communcation channel you like. I Don't think you have any while loop problem. The problem could be that connecting with SQL Server 2000 Database. At the initial state it takes (connecting with SQL Server 2000) long time bcoz sql server is just starting. Try finding to sql server running state and then connect with that. Sleep is not an good idea.

Ok so the dumb ones are covered. It still looks like 1 is the cause of the problems. If you move to another folder and attach the files does the connection work OK then. I don't use express but with SQL Server the server instance has an identity/credentials and these are used to access the file system. I would presume permissions on the data/log folders is set up on install of the database. Other folders may need specific permissions. Never underestimate the power of human stupidity RAH

If you have a Next, Previous button you should be having PageIndexChange event for that GridView. In that event handler you need to "rebind" the data with filter condion that has already been selected. So you need to Save the select query too (using any session management technique ie. You should probably check with your dba :). One possibility could be the logs are full, another may be that you are waiting on a lock... Which DBMS are you using? Which version, and what is the SQL error number you are getting?

Thanks Christian for the reply. Actually, I have a USB Card Reader. And I am getting Data from this Device in an Event when some Card is swapped on the device. Bcoz of this event I need to use the OCX Control to trap the event and get data. Now I need to Pass this data to my WebPage which will take this data, Search for a Match in the DB and Display other details like Name, Code, Image of the person who has punched the Card. Any Idea please, I need to somehow get this information. Christian any more Ideas please.
