On top of that, it looks like all emoitocs in old messages have been lost. For example, see this thread with the list of "secret" emoticons like :badger:,, and :vegemite:. Looks like we can only use the standard Unicode emoji on the new site. ๐Ÿ˜”

@code-witch I just tried to change mine also, and I got the same error. Will investigate this with the team.

It actually should be possible to post to all registered users... we have had our dosis of spam over there too and those usually brand new accounts. M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Unfortunately CodeProject appears to be in rhe process of shutting down. All the staff who used to fix things and answer queries in this forum have left. Those of us who have been members for years are only able to guess what is hapening, as there has been no official word on the abandonment by the owners.

Which suggests there must be someone running things; they're just hiding from their newly-acquired users, and keeping us in the dark. :sigh: "These people looked deep within my soul and assigned me a number based on the order in which I joined." - Homer

StevieWondermann wrote: Just wanted to say that I looked and DavesApps is a real guy. Yes, it wasn't for a while until I realized that. Initially, I got the distinct impression upon reading Dave's post, that he was a spammer who held no regard for the rules of the forum or for other people. That's what got it started. When I realized that his intentions were honest and genuine -- even though his post came across as a blatant form of spam -- I felt bad. I clarified to him that I didn't want my irreverent behavior to be inferred as a mean-spirited act toward him. Had he been an actual spammer -- a person who intends to break the rules for their own monetary self-interests at the expense of others' time and efforts -- then I do believe a fair amount of humorous ridicule is well-deserved. I'm not talking about ridicule that's intended to be cruel, hateful, and directed at someone in a personal manner. Even if we were dealing with a true spammer, my ridicule wouldn't reach the point of hateful and genuinely derogatory attacks. I find no pleasure in that whatsoever. That type of thing does nothing to help anyone in any situation. StevieWondermann wrote: The dozens of ranting, raving and bizarre poetry[^] posts was unnecessary. I wouldn't say there were dozens of posts; I'd say around one dozen would be more accurate. That's not important, though. I'm sorry you didn't like my poem. As I had mentioned several times in other recent posts, poking fun at others in jest can be mistaken for derogatory and hateful intent, or anything else altogether. If someone had posted that sort of poem and it was directed toward me, I would have immediately laughed about it and I would have found appreciation in its humor. Others see it differently. It doesn't matter what you say, how you say it, or what you intend to imply. Textual communication, over the Internet, by people you don't know is entirely open to misinterpretation. It's a major part of the reason why hostility toward others over the Internet is so rampant. Miscommunication and misunderstanding that escalate into a hostile interaction happen in real life, too. Even between good friends, it happens. You can have the best communication skills in the world, and it doesn't matter. As long as you're a human being, this will happen. It doesn't matter which side of the interaction you may be on, it happens to everyone. Everyone has misspoken something in

This looks like what happened: [Chris Maunder - Professional Profile](https://www.codeproject.com/script/Membership/View.aspx?mid=1&fid=4753&df=90&mpp=50&sort=Position&spc=Tight&tid=6016625) Quote: Thank you CodeProject. Time for a change. Pin Saturday, August 31, 2024 10:07am by Chris Maunder upvote downvoting not available React After 25 years at CodeProject I'm making a change. I've spent nearly a quarter of a century helping developers share knowledge, learn, and overcome the hugely rewarding challenges of software development. It's been amazing but my focus needs to shift closer to home with a focus on family, wellness and balance. While I'm certainly sad to be moving on, I'm proud of what David Cunningham, myself and the rest of the team achieved. Over the past few years my interests and personal goals have changed and evolved so it's time to embrace change, keep sharp and turn these interests into a new career. Coding always, but this time it's personal. But if it wasn't for the newsletter shutting down, I'd've taken that to mean he was just handing over day to day control; not that he was semi-shutting the site down. Doing that without a highly visible fairwell seems really bizarre. Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius
