bool is a value type, not a reference type so you can't compare it to null. The datareader returns true if there are more rows to read, and false if there are none. Other than that, I see no errors on my end. I'm using RC0 on XP Pro James

MSIL is in a bytecode format like java. Like someone else said you need to use ILDASM to view the MSIL going on in the bytecode. James

I had big problems with the Beta2 implem of the splitter - however, I got everything working if you design them visuall in the correct order (i.e. place the tree first, then the splitter, then the edit)

This puzzled me for a while too. I searched high and low in the .NET Framework SDK and figured you just couldn't do it. Then by chance I ran across it when going individually through each assembly. It's in a really obvious location. Comparison of strings in C# is value comparison. if I say: if (s1 == s2) that will be true if the strings have the same contents. If I want reference comparison, I need to use: if ((object) s1 == (object) s2) That forces the compiler to use object.Equals() rather than String.Equals(). In languages that don't support operator overloading, you'd use: if (String.Equals(s1, s2))

www.icsharpcode.net has released the code for their C# editor which has that functionality. It is however built around te .Net SDK and even though they ported a version to VS.Net, it is still in same coding style as that of the SDK (no visual forms all code) It does implement the same docking and tabs look and feel as that of .Net... hopefully someone can extract that functionality and make a standalone sample out of it. I might have the wrong end of the stick here but I remember back when I first looked into XML that you had to define the "data type" of the XML entity for odd characters and entity-conversion to display properly. Unfortuanatley I am not near my XML book or VS.NET so I cannot remember how to do it, but if you know what I mean then see if defining that data type will help. the /r:System.dll is done automatically when you say csc class1.cs. Also I tried the second option that you told. No luck. But I got VS.NET beta 1 installed on my machine. I created a c# project, built it and its just ducky. Thanks anyways.
