I shouldn't think there'll be a problem. Your flat panel can only do one resolution anyway - in your case 1600x1200. All other resolutions are resampled up to 1600x1200 by the monitor itself. Your picture quality will be best if you use the native resolution. Presumably your older machines can't actually do this resolution? Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

Thank you for the replay. I need a memory stick for an old laptop which runs Win98, it would be good for backup and transfer of data. Unfortunately i cannot figure out what version the USB port is, so i have to think about 1.0 too. Michael Martin wrote: a USB 2.0 device can be used on a USB 1.1 port, the answer is yes The forward compatibility 1.1 has towards 2.0 is certain but i know nothing about the relation between 1.0 and 2.0 - in this order. Have a look at the DirectShow SDK. Microsoft does provide information about how to use the DV driver. Don't try it, just do it! ;-)

Details of the RSA algorithm[^]. If you're interested for theoretical reasons, go ahead. If you're trying to implement it yourself, don't bother: use a tested, FIPS-approved implementation. On Windows, from C++, use the Cryptography API[^]. From Visual Basic or a scripting language, use CAPICOM[^], the COM wrapper around the Cryptography API. From the .NET Framework, use System.Security.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider[^]. Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

Google for it. Maybe there are different versions of that driver on the net. Don't try it, just do it! ;-)

You can change the drive letter of the system partition, but then you will probably fuck windows up. I found an article that showed how to do it. With the help of that article i did some tweaking in the registry. windows started fine, until i clicked on a user, then it hung. maybe i had to change some system variables too, i don't know. Anyhoo, windows got stuck, so i reinstalled windows just like you. I disconnected that stupid cardreader, and everything worked fine! :-D

I've spent so much time trying to get it working over this past week that now I'm prepared to just let it be. In the not too distant future the whole machine will need rebuilding anyway so I will cycle the motherboard round to a testing machine and then see if I can find some diagnostics software to run on it.
