I am still having problems with adding member variables of "control" type from the resource editor, and even via the class view. Can anyone help me out? SP1 and Vista update applied, and I can now see the checkbox for "control variable", but when I tick it, no resource IDs come into the list of controls, I can't add anything to any of the boxes in fact. In VC6 I was used to using the class wizard to simply add a member variable of control type to each control on the dialog, but now I can't do it in VS2005 (not sure if its Vista or VS2005 I am failing to understand)

We resolve this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We install MS Office 2007 instead of MS Office 2003 All work fine.

Maybe the operation is beign virtualized, thats why you dont get any error, but the file isn't copied. You'll need to elevate your app to copy the file, or find a non protected place to copy your file. Sysinternals haves a free application, process explorer that you can use to see the security attributes of your app, and if is running virtualized. Also I sugest you to include the UAC manifest in your .exe, Vista heuristics are a pain in the ass.

My app after beign elevated was running with vitualization turned off. I don't know the difference among a normal elevated app, an unsigned installer and a signed installer. Is pretty obvious there are differences, but people from MS dont want to explain them it seems.

Hi! Usually you shouldn't have to use Vista SDK API functions just for your application to run under Vista as well as under XP. .NET Framework 1.1 can be installed on Vista and your app will use this framework version. If you really need to use SDK functions that exist only on one system, then usually using P/Invoke will give you the least headache. Declare your P/Invoke signatures (this will work even if the current OS doesn't have these functions), but only call the functions if you made sure that you're running on the correct OS.
