VS.NET and MSDN from CodeProject
-
Just wanted to say 'thanks' to everyone who registered their interest in the VS.NET and MSDN upgrades, and also a 'be quick'. It's been up for under a day we've got 85 people already! We've only got 500 and it's first come, first served. If you've put down your name then you're guaranteed a package (but not commited - yes, you can back out). I know I sound like I've got a salesman's twead jacket on and a bad comb-over, but do be quick if you are at all interested. cheers, Chris Maunder
One more... will C# be available in the .NET upgrade package? Methinks "no", but I thought I'd ask. MS' site seems confusing. Thanks, /ravi "There is always one more bug..." http://www.ravib.com ravib@ravib.com

Are you only selling the MSDN Universal? If so (I don't need that much...), then I'll have to reluctantly pass on the CodeProject VS.NET package and instead buy the plain-and-boring MSDN Pro subscription that comes with VS.NET and a ton of other stuff... -- Russell Morris "WOW! Chocolate - half price!" - Homer Simpson, while in the land of chocolate.
There's a comment field where you can make suggestions on what you'd like to see. If we get enough requests for something then we'll see what we can do. cheers, Chris Maunder

Hi Chris, I assume the .NET upgrade is all I need in order to upgrade my copy of MSVC++ 6.0 to use the latest and greatest MFC 7, the new compiler, and the .net features available to C++? Also, would the .NET upgrade continue to allow me to create (non .NET) apps for Win9x/NT/2000/XP? Finally, will CP sell the upgrade for a price in the same region as CompUSA ($69)? I tried to RTFM, but couldn't find answers to these questions. Thanks! /ravi "There is always one more bug..." http://www.ravib.com ravib@ravib.com PS: "twead" -> "tweed" (Spell-O-Matic has spoken. :))

This sounds like the standalone C++ (which we aren't offering as yet), not the actual Visual Studio .NET. cheers, Chris Maunder

Ravi Bhavnani wrote: will C# be available in the .NET upgrade package Yep, because it's a Visual Studio .NET upgrade, which includes VC++, C# and , urgh X| , VB... - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

I was wondering if the girl came with MSDN Universal? Thank you. ;P P.S. I currently work for a University. Academic pricing for MSDN Universal is US$ 979.00. If you can beat that, I'm in. -Sean ---- "Vigilance With Pride"

And it took a whole day for that comment to come from the audience? For shame! ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

Chris, I'm very interested but I would like to know some pricing information. A ball park figure will do, for the full product, not the upgrade. Jason Gerard

hang on a minute mate... " As one of the first 500 to get in on this special offer, you'll be recognized as one of the Founding 500, a tight group of individuals who have made an early commitment to supporting CodeProject. " cool... BUT " Please note: due to issues beyond our control we can only ship to North American destinations. " now i can understand the shipping issue but the 500 club etc is dependant on buying the product which you can't do if your not in north america this sounds, in a word, unfair to those who want or should/could be part of the fun but can't because they're not in "North America" there are loads of members from other countries ; kiwis, Indians, Poms, Scot's, Irish, etc etc and even a few Aussies and they're all being excluded Have you got a fix for this rampant unfairness Chris? Well I would but being stuck in New Zealand it's (like most offers everyway) not available to me... Not that its just this offer - what gets me is when companies send you an email (to a .net.nz address) and make an offer which then goes on to say Available in the US and Canada only Is it just me or is that real dumb lol :-D Well that's my rant for the day :) Richard Just another NZer

Hi! Here is possible explanation for this fenomena (my translation from Russian, the real source may be in English, so don't beat me too hard for double interpreting :omg: The UN carried out the survey: "Express, please, Your opinion concerning the food shortage for people in other countries". There were great problems with the answer to this question in the whole world: In the Africa nobody knows, what does it mean - "food". In the Western Europe nobody knows, what does it mean - "shortage". In the Eastern Europe nobody knows, what does it mean - "opinion". In the South America nobody knows, what does it mean - "please". And finally, in the US nobody knows, what does it mean - "people in other countries". As they say in Russian, every joke has the portion of joke. Regards, Gennady
