Web page question

Select the table, Ctrl+C to copy, open Excel right click and choose Paste Special... and then choose HTML and click OK. Voila. Jeff Martin My Blog
Ah, thanks! I had been trying to do it with Quattro Pro, but Paste Special did not give the option of pasting as HTML -- which just screams the question: WHY NOT??

Well, cut&paste it into notepad, replace the spaces with something like |, then iteratively replace || with |, then import into Excel telling it the delimeter is |. Marc Pensieve
Also an option...the HTML solution above was quite nice. Doesn't appear to work with Corel's Quattro Pro, however...

It would appear that it does not work with Excel 2000. I did, however, fire up Quattro Pro 11 and it worked. Quite interesting, never knew you could use File->Open for a URL.

With excel 2003 you could capture and even refresh table automatically. 1. Select Data->Import External data->New Web Query 2. Type the URL of the website in the address field 3. Execl automatically allows you to select the table 4. Finally click on Import 5. Select the cells where you want to place the table. 6. You can refresh the data whenever you desire by clicking on refresh data

Very strange. It will not work for me under Excel 2000. It informs me that the document is no longer available. Quattro Pro, on the other hand, will perform the operation successfully.

hmm, dunno. you can open the website directly from the open file dialog of excel 2003 (and maybe 2000?) -- just type the url of the website in the filename box.
