I found this REALLY cheap site, ClicknHost, which seems perfect for my needs. I would like to host my site on a real domain without any adbanners (I use a CSS hack to hide them on my free 50megs.com site, but they still clog up my bandwidth). I would also like the option to use some server sided stuff, and ASP seems to be the way to go in that regard. However, their site mentions ASP, but not ASP.NET, which of course is preferable, as I always want the latest version of EVERYTHING (:-D ). Not knowing anything about ASP (.NET or otherwise), does the inclusion of ASP mean that I can code ASP.NET with C#? Anyway, can you guys just check out the site, and tell me your opinion on whether I should sign up for it? This would be the first time I've ever spent money on a website (:omg: ), so I'm a little unsure. I don't really want to spend much, as I don't have a job (although I just got a work permit for an internship position as quality assurance!). But I don't really want to get this if all I can do is upload pure HTML pages, I'd simply be paying to paying for a domain and for my addbanners removed. Thanx!

I have mine on ReadyHosting. Their service is great, and it is not expensive at all. They give you unlimited bandwidht and 500 MB of space, plus ASP, databases, unlimited POP accounts... really good! they just don't support ASP.NET yet, but they told me they were working on it. Check out ReadyHosting for your site. It's the best deal I've seen yet. You get 500MB, unlimited traffic, unlimited email boxes, database support, FrontPage Extensions, etc for $99/ year. I've got my company hosted there, and plan to start reselling soon. The only problem I've had is that a month or so ago they were attacked by someone out to damage their internal systems, and some websites got knocked out as a result (mine among them). They're prosecuting, and things are back to normal; I'll bet they'll be keeping a closer eye on ex-employees from now on, too:laugh:

I have no experience of the hosting company you mention. Just remember there is no such thing as a free (or in this case, very cheap) lunch. You tend to get what you pay for in this life. Michael :-)

I use www.westhost.com unlimited stuff, mailing lists, and 100mb of web space for $15/month. Tell them I (paddedwall.org) referred you if you sigh up there. "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

One person recommended WestHost... I used to use them and changed away due to the lack of support. A friend of mine who also used them said that he got the feeling that it's a one-man shop. Any time he contacted them, day or night, he always spoke with the same person. He said that it didn't sound like a call center, either. I am currently using JaguarPC, and couldn't be happier. They usually have monthly specials that net you more space and a higher bandwidth allocation for less money. When I signed up, the special was $9.95/mo. for 300MB of space and 12GB/mo. of bandwidth. The downtimes have been minimal, and their tech support has always been responsive. If you do decide to use them, give them my domain (fair-ware.com) as a referral. If you refer enough people, you get free hosting for life :omg: -- Paul "I drank... WHAT?"
