I dont understand why ppl why expensive stuff like camera from the internet. Why not go to the stores, check the demo camera, see if it has all the features that you need, is the menu nice and easy to use, is the LCD screen good, Watch some chicks, drink a beer, talk to ppl, socialise, and then buy it. i use credit card (on the internet) for only one purpose, to renew my internet account, There is nothing to deliver (well it just delivers another month of internet account validity), no accessories needed. But I still dont trust that ISP, but my credit card has 10,000Rs fraud insurance if the transaction is done on the internet so i use it for this purpose only as of now.

I will use the internet to buy what I cannot get locally, but there are somethings I have to get on the internet like flutes. So far I have not had to pay more than $500 for a flute but even that made me jittery (and no, it wasn't the coffee). My camera and computer supplies were bought locally, I think the computer store owner's car was paid for only by my computer purchases since 2002. I don't mind paying a bit more for less worries. I hear rumors there is a flute maker in the mountains nearby, but no one seems knows who or where he is, so until then, as my flutes slowly creep toward $1000 and will eventually exceed that. There are flutes of the style I buy that are equal in price to his camera. I think if I make it that far and actually decide to make an investment like that, I will probably travel to Florida to meet the maker and buy directly. After all I could easily pay for an extra night or two delay return from a business trip and drive to get there if I am in the area. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. You get better deals online. A camera that costs $800 in a shop would be $550 or so online. Regards, Nish

Ah the usual story. When there are no problems with the order everything goes smoothly but the moment there is a glitch their customer service falls apart. I ordered in January a few years back and only received my order two months later after much hassle. Lots of promises were made during that time that were not kept and at one point I was point blank lied to by the sales manager (I had my bank on one phone and him on the other which he didn't know. He said he was talking to the guy at my bank, the same guy I was talking to on the other phone.) It was a largish order ($2800 worth) but they treated me poorly. Still, plenty of people have had no problems from them. But judging by comments I'd say that BH Photo Video are better when things do go wrong than Adorama. You can read praise and damnation of Adorama here[^]. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Colib and ilikecameras. K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

As Nish said, the reason is price. Anything from TVs to cars can be found cheaper online - sometimes by as much as 50% off the high street prices. A lot of tech stuff and white goods are shipped direct from manufacturer cutting out storage, stock and handling costs, and in many cases are imported into countries with lower import taxes than the one they are eventually sold in. Even the big high street retailers have online stores that offers the same goods at a lower price because they don't need to handle them.

That makes sense. But i think the maturity and proper laws are yet to come in India.

i think the idea of internet shopping could be different from place to place. I belive India has not yet maturered the Internet shopping concept. Yes internet banking, share tradding is all there. In India, the cheaper camera is usally the local brand that has cloned the original, it looks similar minus many features , and the feature list that would confuse most of the ppl making them belive that they are high-tech. I have tried to buy some stuff of the internet, but firstly they are of similar price that i would get in the market, or like i said it is a cheaper version of the original ones.

That’s why I always read the comments, if there are no comments then a review isn’t worth a grain of salt. Not that it matters much I don’t do a whole lot of online shopping. Anything I have ever found online I need / want is about the same price as going to a local store and purchasing it; plus the added bonus of getting right now and not having to worry about shipping delays.
