I got my first daily news letter today. This Jordon girl is a real looker(as Conan would say). I was suprised they(she) made her face so big... I felt kinda naughty pulling her up at work.. lol. She is a good writer too(i did actually read the thing... after a few minutes)

I think it's funny to me that we assume it's a marketing gimmick and don't ponder the possibility that she was in fact the best candidate for the task. In an industry largely dominated by men and claiming to be technical it amazes me how quickly genuine efforts get debased into cup sizes, sexual attraction and other HR related infractions.
I would venture to guess she was the best candidate. I would also venture to guess she has to put slightly more work into this than just a phone call or two while she files papers and gets coffee for all the men getting real work done. As their has already been much discussion about her name, a picture seemed fitting to me as Jordon could be male or female. Additionally, this is the first distribution by CP where it seems to be uniquely individual. The newsletters seem to be a summary of site activity and less a preparation.
When I compare it with other columns and editorials in my local paper a photo of the editor or columnist is always included. I think Jordon's work and delivery is more consistent with journalism standards than it ever was a marketing thing.
Do you really think Maunder sat there and said, "Yeah, let's appeal to their libido." I just don't see Chris or David doing such a thing at all. Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it. It follows some pretty well established trends in journalism.

Sad! Sad! But thank you for the link. I agree with the author of that post. I'll never forget one girl I went to school with. She was gorgeous, she knew it, she didn't care and she loved blowing the curve. I'm not talking her bust line either. For her the curves meant the highest scores in class. She got them and pretty much sent a "screw yourself" message to all the mail ego's (and there were plenty) in school. I got to know her and she was a fantastic person. She just wanted work in computers. Cool for sure.:cool:

Jordon is in fact very qualified and has long standing relationships with scads of people in the software development world at places Microsoft, Google, Developmentor, Wintellect and on, and on. Chris and I have known Jordon for years as part of the software development community and I think she's the ideal person to run CodeProject's Developer News service.
