NOOOOOOO!!!!!! You bastard! You took a woman of infinite beauty, a veritable ray of rosy fingered sunshine, a brilliant, scintillating dew drop, rebinding, and refocusing the very light around her into a halo of sumptuous delight, and cast, nay my merry fool, threw her to the dogs with this vile characterization. I am overwrought with horror, nay with angst, nay, not even words can describe my state right now, such churlish emotions do I feel beating in my breast! I challenge you to a duel, to defend the honor of young Jordon against your hellish deeds and contemptible actions oh, Sir, Most Foul! ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! Bravo! Bravo! I'm not entirely certain if the vision I have in my head of a Shakespearean play (et al Hamlet or Mcbeth) or The Princess Bride goes better with your rhetoric ... :-D Regardless ... well played Master Crafton.

Have you ever seen the carry strap for the Polar heart rate monitor? Someone just needs to stitch that inside a shirt all the way around and keep it adjustable. Then stitch pockets across it's stitch line and you'll be good to go. If you patent the idea and it makes you rich you owe me dinner.

I hadn't, but found some pictures online. Looks like it should work, though i'd be interested to see how well it'd stay in place if attached to a shirt.

My whole idea is that you would adjust it loosely in circumference but stitch it tightly to the shirt. that way the weight of the iPod would bring it forward only so much when leaning and then the slack in the back would be taken up completely. You'd have to actually stitch the pocket differently to compensate for the tendency-to-dump of most pockets. Make the pocket more narrow and elastic at the top while making it loose and giving it a collapse fold at the bottom so that the stitch at the top would be the pivot and the looseness at the bottom would create a tendency for it to drop lower in the pocket and hang down away from the body while leaning then when you stood up again the weight would balance back out and bring the ipod as a whole close to the body again. The pocket would collapse back (at the bottom) and you'd still have everything safely stowed.

As I think about it more I bet just stitching the pocket differently is all you'd need to do. The slack in the shirt will be taken up on it's own. I'd try that first.

Marc this isn't directed at you alone. More at all the replies I've seen so far.

I think it's funny to me that we assume it's a marketing gimmick and don't ponder the possibility that she was in fact the best candidate for the task. In an industry largely dominated by men and claiming to be technical it amazes me how quickly genuine efforts get debased into cup sizes, sexual attraction and other HR related infractions.

I would venture to guess she was the best candidate. I would also venture to guess she has to put slightly more work into this than just a phone call or two while she files papers and gets coffee for all the men getting real work done. As their has already been much discussion about her name, a picture seemed fitting to me as Jordon could be male or female. Additionally, this is the first distribution by CP where it seems to be uniquely individual. The newsletters seem to be a summary of site activity and less a preparation.

When I compare it with other columns and editorials in my local paper a photo of the editor or columnist is always included. I think Jordon's work and delivery is more consistent with journalism standards than it ever was a marketing thing.

Do you really think Maunder sat there and said, "Yeah, let's appeal to their libido." I just don't see Chris or David doing such a thing at all. Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it. It follows some pretty well established trends in journalism.

OK, that's a valid point. But you know what my first reaction was? That "Jordan" is a completely ficticious person and all Chris and gang were doing was copykatting the likes of MS's Channel 9 or whatever that webcast is with that chick that everyone was oohing and aahing over. This gets my five. Just because she's not dog ugly doesn't mean she was not the best candidate, and it's incredibly sexist for anyone to suggest otherwise. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Man I could not agree more about the MS9 or whatever girl? I'm just totally turned off by the whole BOING!!! attitude I see whenver nerds see a cute girl. I just think to myself, "Gawd you are an embarassment to yourself go buy a magazine and be done with it. Just keep it off the boards."

The trends I was referrring to was a picture of the columnist along side the column. That was all.

It wasn't your post that bothered me. I knew immediately you were referring to whoever that's in so many signatures here. I don't remember her name and but I knew that's what you meant. It was all the other BOING posts that were just not appropriate. If I was Jordon and read crap like that I'd not be too happy.
