Why doesn't MS put their MS books online?

I think it's not fair that the MS developer books are used as a means of earning still more profit. I seriously believe that these books should be part of MSDN. Nish Bow wow wow, Yippee yo yippee yay, My miniputt high, Is now 30 yay.
Nish, you're too intelligent to make such a statement. M$ make money per book, but so do the authors - M$ work like any other publishing house AFAIK. It may seem fair that M$ make no money on their books, but people like Charles Petzhold and Jeffrey Richter rely on their sales as a source of income. Then the net result is less books, because the cost per book is greater, or less quality, because the author of a 'classic' like 'Programming Windows' gets paid about the same as the author of something awful. Capitalism works, and I'd prefer it to MSDN inclusion. I get electronic copies with most of my M$ books, but I prefer paper in my hand. CG I don't think you'd understand. These MS press books cost 3000-5000 bucks in Indian currency :-( I wish we had pirated books like we have pirated CDs here... I know it's bad and ethically wrong. I bet though MS have done a cost and profit analysis at some stage in regards to the return dev tools give to the corporate MS. eg The more 3rd party Win Apps the more boxes of the Win OS sold and more other MS services sold. Nish, Prentice Hall(India) has tied up with M$ and we get books here for @ 500-800 bucks(Indian). Obviously not all books, but many imp ones. You get the Win32 bible (Petzold) for @ 750/- Rs.But orig M$ books cost a lot(Petzold orig: 2500/-). Secondly M$press bundles the resp. ebook with the book which is unlike Wrox. That's why I like M$press as I get to browse at my will w/o me feeling like am workin out. Atul Dharne
