perfect color for my study

All the prestik[^] marks are beginning to bother me. What color is the best choice for my study / computer room? It's quite smaller and I'm looking for something serene. Ideas? Sorry, I forgot to mention that one of my requirements is that I can open my eyes in the room without pain. Cheers, Simon > blog:: brokenkeyboards > what I think of the OPTIONAL keyword in VB.NET? :: here > CV :: PDF > skype :: SimonMStewart

I suggest blue. Then use blu-tak (tm) instead of prestik and all your troubles will be as nothing. '--8<------------------------ Ex Datis: Duncan Jones Merrion Computing Ltd

That ultimately depends on your color preferences, and whatever else you have in the house. Earth tones are easy on the eyes. You could also go with something "clean" and contrasting like white with black trim.

I've messed around with different colours in my working office for years. When I lived in a very cold climate I used an orange not unlike CP here which was very warming and took away the winter blues, the room was painted blue by someone else previously and way too depressing to sit in. On the other hand if I was in a tropical hot climate blue might be very nice. Here I'm still on the white we painted everything when we bought this place. I've always thought it would be cool to have white walls with rack lights in the ceiling shining onto them with adjustable colours so you can just dial them whatever colour you feel like that day. There are endless studies on this, the internet is filled with them, but your best bet is to get a big white sheet of paper, paint it the colour you want to test and put it on the wall where you will see it the most and test drive it out. Serene isn't always the best choice for getting work done I've discovered.

I did a slate green with bright white trim for my study. And all my furniture is mahogany. I really love the contrast. It's very tranquil when working in the room. Regards, Brigg Thorp Senior Software Engineer Timex Corporation

That's a decent idea. I'll get a small can of pastel green paint on the weekend and slap it on a wall to see. Cheers, Simon > blog:: brokenkeyboards > what I think of the OPTIONAL keyword in VB.NET? :: here > CV :: PDF > skype :: SimonMStewart

I just painted mine. It's a smallish room (90 ft2 -> 10 m2) with a window. I painted 3 walls a deep red, called Cranberry Zing, and the 4th wall is Ecru, which is a pale yellow creamy color. I like the way it came out. The dark colors are generally more comfortable, but the one light wall helps keep the smaller room from feeling too claustrophobic. I think the contrasting accent wall helps keep things "interesting". BW

That also sounds like a good idea. I'll play with colors this weekend and see what happens - a dangerous thing for a color-blind person to say :-O Cheers, Simon > blog:: brokenkeyboards > what I think of the OPTIONAL keyword in VB.NET? :: here > CV :: PDF > skype :: SimonMStewart
