Sorry, but I am quite sure he has less problem getting laid on demand than the typical non-slapper.

But I'm quite sure the typical non-slapper doesn't pay to get laid either. ColinMackay.net Scottish Developers are looking for speakers for user group sessions over the next few months. Do you want to know more?

He should be sentenced to a spanking by the woman he slapped and be done with it :D

Oh, please. People need to loosen up. If this had happened in a bar where everyone was drunk, nobody would give a damn, right? Hmmm. That'll get me into a "but people choose to go to bars" argument, which wasn't my intention. My intention was simply to say, people need to loosen up. Hard to say in one sentence. I will say walking down the street (or whatever) isn't it, unless maybe she was naked - which I don't recall the story saying. Jeremy Falcon

That's an interesting question. If one of my guy friends slapped me on the rump, would my girlfriend get upset? Why do we even have these social stigmas to how women (but not usually men) are touched? Marc Pensieve

I would get upset whether or not my girlfriend did. Football is the only place that's acceptable, everywhere else it is gay (that's a joke for those that didn't catch it). I used to not think much of it when I played football (happens all the time there), but I never thought about gayness until it was thrown at me (long story). Since more and more people are acting gay now I care. I don't want some guy getting his rocks off becaue of my backside. Granted this was it if happened to me, not my significant other.

Ok, I have a "hunch". Women have always been seen as more vulnerable on a physical plane (people don't give me women's liberation crap; if you weren't psychically weaker then rapes wouldn't happen). I think it's like with kids, we take care of kids too. If somebody sees someone mistreating a kid they take action quicker than they would an adult. I think it's human nature to find balance, the weak are lifted up and the strong are tried to be brought down (so to speak). As such we take care of the weak (no this does not mean women are weak). BTW Marc, the comments in parentheses aren't meant for you. They are meant for the one-voters that would rather vote than think. :) Jeremy Falcon

I was thinking that too. One thing that men have that women don't, that I think would make women vulnerable even if physically they had the same strength, is testosterone. Marc Pensieve

Of course I wouldn't be okay with that, but I wouldn't be pushing to lock the guy up for four years either. Given the extent of the "damage", I think that sentence is more than a bit extreme.

Not I. It's about the bigger picture. Would you want your daughter to have to worry about that stuff if she wanted to walk around the neighborhood? A light sentence means more people will still do it. Jeremy Falcon

Riiiight. You know this because the death penalty has put an end to murder, and mandatory sentencing put an end to drug abuse. Maybe they should cut off his hand. Out of curiosity, how would you feel if it was your son (or daughter) doing the slapping?

What? Yeah and if people robbed stores and all they got was a warning it would surely not get worse.

In this day and age, I'd agree that guys can't just go touching some girl's butt because they like the look of it. But do you *honestly* believe this guy deserves four years in jail, and a prison record ? I think he'll get his butt more than just smacked in there. And for what ? Is this chick so mental that this event will have a life long affect on her ? And, to cut off the comment you keep making at the pass - I have a daughter. She is 8, some guy touches her now, he dies. No police required. When she's 18, I would be saying the same thing. 4 years in jail is just ridiculous. How long would a chick get in jail for touching my butt ? Or are we still hypocrites ? I also see their names have been published. Surely that puts her in more danger than she ever was by some dude going by on a bike ? -- modified at 20:12 Sunday 26th February, 2006
