Sure it is. Oh, i know what you mean - i'm sure very few harvesters head out to the fields with the primary goal of mutilating fuzzy little rabbits and leaving their twisted, dying bodies to rot in the sun... But, as long as there's hay in the fields, there's gonna be rabbits, and no matter how much you regret it, a few are gonna die during harvest. You either harvest and kill rabbits, or you don't, and something else kills them. Or they live. Something like that. Sorry, not trying to be flip. But that's life, you know? Living things die. Sometimes it's the ugly, biting, disease-carrying things, and sometimes it's the cute fluffy things. I'm neither for nor against seal clubbing. I don't live there, i don't work there, i don't know what all goes into the decision someone has to make that leads them to go out and club seals. But i do know that most of us have made a decision at one point that has led, directly or indirectly, to the death of another living creature.

No it's not. That's called a consequence. There's a big difference between that and setting out in a pre-meditated fashion to torture an animal. It’s along the same lines as murder 1 and murder 2, as defined by the cops. Jeremy Falcon

God you are an idiot. THERE'S A HUGE FUCKING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUSTAINING LIFE AND TORTURING ANIMALS NEEDLESSLY FOR VANITY. Get a clue dumbass. [edit] Ok, I admit I overreacted on this one, but you sure as hell provoked it. Anyway, the point still stands. [/edit] Jeremy Falcon

Agreed 100%. Our food supply is dependant upon the deaths of other living beings. Period. Oh and lest anyone thinks I'm promoting vegatarianism, I'm not. Sad but true. At least (in an utopistic view) humans can defend themselves. ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]

I have nothing against someone who decides to eat only plant material; eat what you like, i say. But i'm still disgusted when i hear someone list their reason for it as "saving animals". Unless you grow your own food, chances are you have no idea how many creatures die just as a result of bringing it to you. There seems to be this idea that death doesn't happen unless someone films it and stages protests...

They are obviously not bothering to find another way to harvest the seals.

I think you mean, you hate the seal hunt. Guess what? Lots of other people do, too. But lots of other people also reap a benefit from it, so it is not going to go away, anytime soon. Yup, the pictures of blood spattered snow and animals can be pretty revolting. So don't friggen look at them, then. You get no sympathy from me on this one. For all the things that people do in the world that should be stopped, I'd be very surprised if this ever made a top ten or top fifty list. Chris Meech I am Canadian. I hate hunt in general. I think hunters (even sport hunters) deserve to get killed by their own rifles. Why the hell you should like hunt? :~

We are destroying our planet. We are killing animals in such a brutal way. We are always at war with other humang beings. What's the worst thing? Please don't answer. It's only a matter of point of view. And "local" needs. ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]

Of course! First: feeding is the third need of an animal (and human being). The first is to breathe, the second is to drink. Second: all the animals used for human feeding are killed istantaneously. Cows get a nail in their skull, rabbits, chickens and so on are put in a machine that breaks their neckbones (istantaneously). Fishes, I agree, have a bad way to die, because they basically suffucate. Anyway I don't like fish. Third: killing animals only for making coats and woman accessories is really unacceptable (and when I say 'only' I mean that the meat is discarded). When you consider that those animals are killed (or even *not* killed) in that way, that practice become really absurd. IMHO. ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]

Intentional or not, there is lots of cruelty that goes on in this world. I think we'd be better off working on the human to human cruely part of life and fixing that before we start arguing over what human to animal cruelty is considered acceptable. I agree - here I get accosted by environmental activists wanting me to sign up for a monthly donation whenever I step outside of the office. My answer is always - screw the trees, I give a fair amount of money to World Vision, they help people. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

So do trees, that is unless you don't enjoy breathing air. Jeremy Falcon

Sure. I get that. But given the choice between a tree being cut down and a child being raped or starving, I know where I want my money to go. To be honest, I used to also support greenpeace ( with a lesser amount than I do world vision ), and I stopped because I got sick of their constant aggressive street campaigns. If I get stopped by those people, I will also tell them that they used to have my money, but I got sick of being bullied on the streets. I increased my world vision support, and I'm very comfortable with that. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Well, I can understand that. Just leave a few trees left for us to hug.

Oh man, it remimds me of the salvation army during Christmas time over here. Yeah, I agree, bullying is dumb.

That's cool. I think if everyone did their part in helping to make a world a better place in the way they set fit, we'd all be better off. Maybe everyone one of us wouldn't agree on every little detail, but by and large, we'd be moving in the right direction at least. Jeremy Falcon
