...And Justice for All

I like St. Anger (am I the only one?). It has a cool "garage band" feel to it. However, I'll agree that it's no where near as good as the Black album, which I think is when Metallica peaked. I also liked their S&M album with the San Francisco symphony. That's another one that I think doesn't get the respect it deserves. In my opinion, the S&M album did an awesome rendition of "One". Although I'm probably biased here since I live in the San Franciso bay area. P.S. You got my 5 for recommending Primal Fear. Cool stuff.

Yes.

I think they peaked with MoP. Black is half crap songs, half good, commercial songs. The world didn't need more commercial metal, it needed more real metal.

If I'd known, we could have had a coffee, I was there about 6 months ago...

Yeah, the new album is totally awesome, especially the title track. After years of listening only to 80's music, there's suddenly a lot of really cool bands, especially coming out of Europe, but the US also. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Ride the lightning was the first album of their's I bought and it's still my favorite. I bought Justice next and really liked it. Killers was extremely good as well but lightning will always be one of my all-time favorite albums. I'm pretty sure it's a post-Burton to but it's been to long I don't remember.
Overheard in clients: Question: "So country music doesn't make you want to get down and boogie?" Response: "No, it makes me want to clean off the bottom of my shoe." I just have to say that's about one of the best statements regarding country music I've ever heard. Welcome to CP in your language. Post the unicode version in My CP Blog[^] now.
Killers is the second Iron Maiden album. Do you mean Kill em all ? Lightning, being the second album, is not post Burton. The fourth album ( Justice ) is the first post Burton album, excepting 'Garage days', which does not count ( but is awesome, nonetheless ). Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Geez, cannot believe I made that slip-up. I've been queing up all sorts of music for a final 3 day push on a system and was working in my Maiden and got it confused. That's almost a sin in the metal crowd... I'm going to see if RHAPSODY had the album/band you mentioned. You've got me curious for sure. - Rex

 Thought I was alone in thinking Kurt Cobain would have been neatly swept under the rug by now had he not killed himself. BW

Oh, yes. I know that for sure. If you don't believe that then you were one of those that watched "Spinal Tap" and believed it was about a real band. Of course it might as well have been...:-D

I recently watched a video of E. Van Halen playing with Jan Hammer on youtube.com. The only thing I could think of was: "What ever happened to guitar soloing?" <Guitar Teacher>Gather round kids, I'm going to show you how to play a solo. <Kids>But teacher, soloing is for people who crave the spotlight, or for people who have a personality. We're anti-heros, moody socialists and open sourcers! We can't separate ourselves from the pack, that would be wrong. We like having no guitar tone, and playing endless amounts of power chords. For that I would have sacked their rooms and burned up their Milli Vanilli, Brian Adams and New Kids on the Block while they watched. Then I would have carved my name into their textbooks with a switchblade (not owning a switchblade a sharpie would have worked just as well).

I pretty much hate clutter and tracking down CD's and cases just drives me nuts. If I could get all digital access to every artist there was I would. Walmart Music didn't have them I'm afraid that iTunes may not either. Yeah, I loved it. Sounded great!

Fair enough. If iTunes cost, say, half of buying the CD, I would be there. So long as it costs the same, I will keep buying, ripping and storing CDs. Walmart ? Give me a break, I've been in there, they carry no good music :-) One other good suggestion - there is a series of DVDs called Monsters of Metal. Most of the bands I've got into in recent years, I discovered by buying those DVD sets and watching them. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Well iTunes had them and while I was there I checked for AC/DC nobody has any buy and download AC/DC and it blows me away. I would love to get about 3 albums of theirs that I consider all-time keepers and perhaps I'll amazon all them together... Is Amazon selling CD's for $10??? I'll have to go look at that.

Is iTunes $10 for an album ? Last time I looked it was a dollar a track, and most bands I like have 14 + tracks per CD. Yes, some CDs on Amazon are 10 bucks, but the average is more 12-14. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
