VS.NET String Resources
-
This isn't a programming question, but more a VS one. :-O I know there is a VS forum, but not many questions get answered there. I thought I might have better luck here, so apologies in advance if this is not the place. Imagine some idiot programmer :-O has made a massive application but not put any of his strings into a resource file. Is there any way to parse through the code files (C#) and find all the strings. Then add them to a resource file ready for translation? Any suggestions would be great. There must be a tool out there to fix this kind of problem... I hope  Thanks in advance Andy -- modified at 12:33 Tuesday 4th April, 2006

Funny how people tend to start a post with that - makes you suspicious when you see that as the first sentence, doesn't it? :-)

If it were worded different, I would probably tolerate this question in the Lounge. He is more looking for a tool to do it than some code, isn't he? An idiot coworker wrote a huge app putting all strings in code. Now we are trying to localize the app but I'm too lazy to go through the 100 KLOC and extract the strings myself. Is there a tool that could parse my source code, extract the strings and replace the occurence with code to look them up? Lounge material, don't you think? :)

I was having a hard time deciding that myself. Of course he did cross post, so we can still get him for that. :-D Jeremy Falcon

Specifically that "idiot coworker" part makes it lounge-safe :-D
