In a blatant attempt to create a Lounge thread that gets mentioned in Jordon's newsletter, I pose the question: What is your earliest memory? Mine: Burning my hand on the stove. I thought "ooo, pretty red color" and then "ow!!!" I don't know how old I was, probably between 3 and 4. --Mike-- Visual C++ MVP  LINKS~! Ericahist | NEW!! I remember big rocky mountains seen through the window of the car. I realised what that memory was only a few years later when my parents brought into discussion a trip we took through the rocky mountains of Cheile Bicazului[^]. They couldn't believe I remebered that. I don't know how old I was but my parents think I was about 2 or 3 years old. They also mentioned having a car crash, but I couldn't remembered that. regards, Mircea Many people spend their life going to sleep when they’re not sleepy and waking up while they still are.

I remember playing on a teeter-totter (SP?) at my grandma's house. I must've been 3 or 4 at the time. I also remember seeing this room with plushy burgundy carpet when I was really, really young, maybe 1 or 2, I'm not really sure where that was at...

Age almost 4 (3 years 10 months), I had a owl halloween custome and my brother and I were playing in them. I was running away (typical for the big brother to beat up the innocent younger one and with the mask on I could not see well. I turned at the brick wall a foot too soon and went face first into the brick end post. Flattened the face totally. Did not care what mine looked like, hey I was behind the mask right! I was so mad that when mom would not let me wear it that night (and people did see my face :) ) "Every new day begins with possibilities. It's up to us to fill it with things that move us toward progress and peace.” (Ronald Reagan)

I actually remember late 2 or early 3 going out with the farmer who owned our garage apartment. He had a strawberry farm. I'd go out picking strawberries with him and he would leave some behind and I'd eat them. We moved out shortly thereafter so the age checks out. ed ~"Watch your thoughts; they become your words. I vaguely remember waking up in a crib, because i liked to chew on the wood rails. Those memories are pretty jumbled though. My most vivid early memory is probably the time i found a small metal barrette and tried to fit it into a wall socket. The resulting fear of wall sockets and barrettes has remained intense my whole life.

Ouch! I vaguely remembered something similar with an old electric application (can't remember what). When I took the plug off the metal remained in the wall socket and I *think* I touched it. I never asked my mom about it but it remains in my memory until now. And also the time when my foot got ran over by a taxi because I wanted the wildflower my brother showed me and went out of the car to get it him. Edbert Sydney, Australia

We're ahead of the game here, by the time it makes the newsletter it's old news... I actually tend to open up several tabs each day with the various stories linked to by the article. But by the time i get through reading them, i tend to have forgotten where they came from.

I can describe vividly part of a house that I lived in until I was 6 months old. My parents swear they have never described it to me and they don't have any photos of it. Yet my description is perfect.

I remember sitting on my grandfather's shoulders and looking at the elephants at the zoo. I was not even 2 (though not far from). As tall as I was up high, the elephants looked HUGE!! I remembered it because of their size... they were larger than even my grandfather's truck! I remember returning only a couple years later and being disappointed that the elephants had SHRUNK!! I even told the elephant caretaker (zoo worker), that I thought there was something seriously wrong with his elephants and I was worried. He listened very intently as I described that I loved elephants, had since the last time I was here only two years earlier and the elephants were very VERY large... but only two years later the elephants had shrunk! He took it well, he promised to measure his elephants and look for any more signs of shrinking, and check all their food for the right amount of calcium. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Jeffry Brickley just had a similar moment, except it was with a flash light. :)

Waking up after an operation to my willy, tied to the bed panicking, wanting to go home and play with my red firetruck (I don't even know if I have one). At least that's what I always think of first. I have a dim earlier one of.. lying in bed sick, asking for a cookie from my (4th) birthday presents. But the other one has virtually overshadowed everything else. [edit]it was for medical reasons only. Not religous - even though now I look "partially jewish" (I guess) [/edit]
