We are moving to 2003 server from XP (if there are no issues!) for Visual Studio 2005 development, does anyone have any bad experiences, or anything I should look for? Will it work fine? What would be the point of running Server03 on dev machines?

On the machine i used before the one i have now, i went from Win2000 to Win2003 Server rather than upgrading to XP. At the time, XP SP2 wasn't out yet, so Win2k3 was slightly more up-to-date, and frankly it was less work turning on the services that i needed (sound) on 2k3 than turning off the ones i don't on XP. I doubt it made much of a difference over time, but it sure seemed more solid at the time. :)

Make sure your hardware is supported. That is, make sure there are Win2k3-specific drivers for everything in or attached to the machine. There are instructions on the 'Net for modifying it to work more like a desktop OS. Personally, i'd leave themes and CD burning off, but your choice.
