Hum, a client of mine has a membership database, horribly simple developed in VB with an Access backend. As I said horrible, the guys who developed it are long gone, no source code of course, the system has a few bugs and needs a few new features. I have two options:- 1. I can try and find an off the shelf product that will fit the functionality I need. The problem is to go through all the available options, very few of which will have the specific features I need. This would be tedious and time consuming. 2. I was thinking of off-shoring the redevelopment of the database in to something using ASP.NET and/or C# and/or a database of choice ... er MySQL or similar. The problem on this one is finding someone I can trust, who will provide me with full source code and is reasonable. Any thoughts on how I might best go about either of these options, I would love to find an off the shelf product without the huge time investment spent evaluating them. If you go with #2 and you want someone you can trust I bet a CP'ian would be happy to help you out for a price. :) There are plenty of guys/girls on here that do consulting work and you can look at their profile to check each person out. Just a thought, Richard

I agree. If you go with option number 2, I'd definately ask here first to see if someone is willing to do it. Heck, if I had free time, I'd even do it. If I had free time I would do it myself, I was planning to outsource the translation into C# and then do the custom changes myself. Regards Ray "Je Suis Mort De Rire" Blogging @ Keratoconus Watch

I always thought "Cunundrum" sounded like it should be the name of a city in India... ------- sig starts "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

If you need someone to do it let me know. It's what I do for a living and I'd be happy to help you out. If you are interested don't reply here. Let's keep the lounge the lounge. Go ahead and hit me with the "email" link. I'm also not a one man show. Through me you can get access to one other CP member in *EXCELLENT* standing and I also represent about 8 other developers where I live. Clients *always* get the code. Does it need to compile though?;P
