Did I miss the bit where you explained why you're asking these sort of questions ? Isn't Eurasian an acceptable word ? I thought it was. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Oh oh, I know the answer just took diversity training not that long ago, the message I took from it is simply. Nothing is acceptable in political correctness. :)

The baby is a son or daughter, maybe a brother or sister, a grandchild, possibly a niece or nephew, and beloved by all. What more do you need to know?

It doesn't matter one bit. A baby is a baby. :rose: As a parent myself I have to say that if you are asking such questions you are nowhere near being ready to have a child. This is too generic - there are different races of Asians.

Again generic, I suppose you mean white people when you say Caucasian. But there are non-white Caucasians too - most Indians are considered to be of Caucasian origin. Regards, Nish

My wife is asian (Indian) and I am a total WASP. :) When my son was born, we put on his birth certificate that he was of asian decent. It went by his mom. My son doesn't look Indian, although he has dark brown eyes. In your case, since the child would probably have asian features (specifically, the eyes), I would probably call the child asian even though the mother is caucasian. Most interracial parents wait and see what the kid looks like before filling out the birth certificate. Regards, Brigg Thorp Senior Software Engineer Timex Corporation

My four year old has come up with her own unique description when discussing her skin colour. She has decided that as Daddy is white and Mummy is light brown (Anglo/Caribbean) then she is yellow like the Simpsons. You can't beat kiddie logic.. I was going to ignore this thread, but you raise a point that I contend with myself.  My father is black (African American, if you prefer) and Native (Choctaw).  My mother is Caucasian/white (Hungarian).  My outward skin color is close to Hispanic/Greek/European with high cheekbones.    If I have multiple selections, I check all three.  However, if I have to select just one, I tend to select Black.  Not because of my appearance, which is generally more "white" than "black", but because I spent much of my childhood growing up with my father in a (poor) black neighborhood, around black culture, with more black friends than white. It is what I identify with, even though I stand out in a black crowd.    For me, what you "are" is more than just what you look like - it also has to include what you have become, or are becoming, based on your life experience.    Peace! -=- James

What every you want if there is not a majority, choose freely. This is strictly census information with the exception of native american benefits, to receive some tribal benefits you must be at least 1/20th tribal blood, to receive others, 1/4, etc. Otherwise choose freely, it doesn't matter, and there is always "other" especially around Roswell. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
