America Better Than France

Which explains why your nation is obeese and dying of type 2 diabetes. Nunc est bibendum
I thought we were dying of old age because, despite our culinary excess, we're rich and have good health care.

I'm drinking a Diet Coke right now! I also live in the Coke Capital of the world! France and Germany also produce Coke. When you pull into Tahiti's harbor, the first thing you see is a giant Coke sign! Coke rules the world!

Dont you stay informed? Type 2 diabetes (that caused by eating sugar) is the biggest killer in the US. Nunc est bibendum
And yet despite that our life expectency is about the same as Germany's. That supports my correct claim that we're rich with good health care, so it doesn't matter if we stuff our faces with crappy food!

Try French cuisine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_cuisine[^]
They eat less of more, but we eat more of less.

Its your life, eat crap if you like, I've seen the results first hand of a young American guy who drank 2 liters of coke a day. Nunc est bibendum
Did he waste away into nothing? I'll take my chances because America is rich. If I'm about to die from Diet Coke, then I'll just pay someone in Germany to hook me up to a well-engineered iron lung or whatever and I'll be good to go!

Which is possibly worse for you than the sugar. Read up on the afects of temperature on aspartame http://www.infinite-health.com/diet/diet6.html[^] I wouldnt go near it. Just give me Water, Wine and Beer in that order. Nunc est bibendum
That's an old myth. First of all, the article you linked claimed it breaks down at 86 degrees F, but that's actually celcius (186 degrees farenheight...or almost boiling). At that temperature it doesn't break down into anything harmful either...just some innocuous basic amino acids. There have been numerous studies on Aspartame over the years and none have linked it to the causing of any diseases or adverse health problems...And it's been around for about 30 years. -- modified at 11:09 Friday 26th May, 2006 Note, however, that there HAVE been numerous studies demonstrating the adverse health effects of excessive alcohol consumption.

Yes, if you like Coke, I suppose that sweet filth that the US produces in the name of wine is better. I think I'll stick to my Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Chateauneuf du Pape and Tavel. Nunc est bibendum

Add another thing to the long list of what the fat child does not know anything about but will , without much urging, expand on at great length. Wine. Richard Suppose you were an idiot... And suppose you were a member of Congress... But I repeat myself. --Mark Twain

It weas June, the south of france, we are both SW engineers and we ahad to shift some empty boxes outside on to the sidewalk. He was 25 I was 38. It was 41`C (105` F I think). After 2 minutes he was so fucked he had to go in side. I could keep going without any problem. That is what you get for shoving 2 litres of Coke down you neck each day. Premature decrepitude. Ha! Go on then, lets have a 'how much do you know vs how much do I know about wine' thread. Lets start by whole grape fermentation, temperature controlled, with the ferment pumped over the must to produce early drinking wines with good fruit flavours that is becoming increasingly popular. Or how about tanic, tough wines, whose tanin precipates out to form argols, or weinstein, that also undergo a mallo-lactic ferment after a year or so in the bottle producing a softer more complex body. Perhaps we could start on the fortified wines, the Muscat perhaps, not to be confused with Sauternes, naturally alcoholic because of the action of a fungus on the semillon grape, 'pouriture noble' it is called. Perhaps the addition of vanillin through the use of oak casks and it overuse with NewZealand whites. Or we could just bash away at grape varieties, Pinottage, that grape of South Africa, a cross of PinotNoir and Shiraz (Cyrrah). Or Grenache Noir, or Merlot, or Carrignan or the 11 or so varieties that go into Chateaux-Neuf du Pape. I might even discuss that Californian peculiarity Zinfandel. OR perhaps the South American Malbec, and other excellent varieties. Want to give up? Want me to expand some more on anything? Want to retract your ignorant statement? If there is one thing you should have noticed before digging such a hole for your self is my sig... Nunc est bibendum

Nope I still believe you are an idiot. Google is your friend. Probably your only friend. I seriously doubt that you can afford any vintage costing more than 5.00 US so why bother. My personal drink of choice is Myers Original Dark Rum. But I have toput up with a friend who is a wine freak and has a cellar you would not believe. I leave you to your drunken dreams. Hmm, lets think, last time I was living in France (Pelissanne, near Salon de Provence) I bought (from Le Clerc supermarket in Salon) a Rothschild Claret 2000 for 11 Euros. It was tough, I wish I had had a cellar at the time, it was worth keeping. So generally I bought AOC vintaged wines form local vinyards for about 12 euros for 5 litres. http://www.calissanne.fr/[^] Was one we used to frequent often, La Cadeniere was another near by, Chateau Bas another. All good early drinking but solid southern wines. Of course, now I am in north europe, I am limited to some extent regarding what I can buy, so I go for th e varietalk Langede'Oc wines. This region has seen a revoloution in the last 15 years, adoptiong Australian techniques, and now produces some superb, dirt cheap wine. But anyway, I am sure you friend will be able to tell you all about it, unless he only drinks Californian 'cherry juice' (like that filth, Blossom Hill). In which case he is as stupid as you.
