No, not one of those iPod type thingies. I want recommendations of Freeware MP3/CD Players to run under Windows 2000 and XP. A couple of months ago I went with Shog9's recommendation of CDex to rip my CD's to MP3's and have since suffered along with Windows Media Player 9 and 10. Needless to say they suck arse and I want something better and more light weight. The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible." - Mr.Prakash 24/04/2004

Winamp is my favorite. Other things worth mentioning are QCD and VLC. VLC will play almost anything you throw at it, although the interface is a bit wanting. As for ripping into MP3s, I can recommend CDDA extractor and FreeRip MP3.

      š Cheers, Vikram.

VLC: Clickety[^] I use VLC for almost everything these days. I can put up with the occasional crash, and the keyboard support is pretty good.

I prefer the new skin, although I don't use all the windows it has. I have only the main window and the playlist open. But that's just me....

I love iTunes. It is simple to use and it is powerful. And it is free. It has an inbuild CD ripper, CD burner. http://www.apple.com/

I agree, and what is with the horrible refresh rate of the play list box (it gets unbearable for me when there are a couple thousand songs loaded)?

I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:
