Blogs [modified]

Yes, I know that the average (stereotype) blogger is seen as someone who has nothing better to do than post online to an imaginary audience what they had for breakfast (don't want to step on anyone's toes), but I've been convinced by family to try keep up a blog for my upcoming holiday abroad... This is where you people's expertise comes in handy :) I'm looking for a (free) blog package that is php-based (have a php and mySQL capable server, size isn't an issue) that works well. About two years ago I dabbled with WordPress which worked alright, with some minor issues IIRC. Is it still a good bet? Seems there are stacks more out there these days, so I'd like any comments and thoughts you can muster :) TIA :) Paul

WordPress has improved quite impressively over the past two years. I wouldn't even bother looking at anything else.
0 bottles of beer on the wall, 0 bottles of beer, you take 1 down, pass it around, 4294967295 bottles of beer on the wall. Awasu 2.2.2 [^]: A free RSS/Atom feed reader with support for Code Project.

I use WordPress on my blog - it seems a fairly "sensible" package, with a large number of plugins, very simple to set up (for me especially - it was a single-click install :]). However if you want to really compare the various packages you should check out OpenSourceCMS[^] - it provides a bunch of pre-installed Blogs (and other packages such as Wiki's), and you have full control over it as a kinda "try before you gnu". Each package gets wiped every hour and replaced with a clean, fresh install. Very handy for evaluating packages without having to install them yourself. -- modified at 7:08 Tuesday 30th May, 2006
