Fortunately, this sort of thing makes it really easy to recognize preachers who are full of shit, without having to bother sitting through an entire sermon.

You've actually encountered some that aren't?:omg:

How about the idea that the reason most of the worlds "advances" are performed my men is that, with the preconception that they are superior to women, they have deliberately suppressed any woman who dares to impose on male superiority? There are many instances, some of which recorded, where any development, particularily intellectually, by a female has been completely disregarded by their male "superiours".
I wanted to say exactly that. People only look at the surface of things, and come up with the stupid conclusions above. You got my 5. -------- "I say no to drugs, but they don't listen." - Marilyn Manson

We let you poor fragile creatures think so ;P The tigress is here :-D

Womens' lib is a century old. Where are all these advancements you're talking about!
You're alive aren't you? But no, seriously, that is part of my point. The women's liberation appears to me to be just an attempt to pacify those that are not happy with the distribution of credit. I shall not, however, start quoting and referring. To do so would put me in a more awkward position than I would want. I have known a number of women who are more than capable than their male "conterparts" - if I may use such a term. We all hear about women being passed over for promotion in business. It's easy for us (men) to just ignore this and say they are playing the sexism card - but it still happens. Anyway, I only have half a chomosone on the twenty-third pair, so what do I know :)

its true. men are physically superior, they also push the envelope further than women. Allmost all of the great explorers have been male for example. Same goes for artists, writers, chefs, etc etc etc. OK there are exceptional women, but for the most part, a woman is happy with the status quo, just wants to do the same thing. Men however are quickly dissatisfied, and want to see and know more. Nunc est bibendum
And it would be even more un-politically correct to point out that most great explorers, artists, inventors, etc... are white males. Stand rigid for the next battle Peace means reloading your guns The love for life is all hatred in disguise - Dimmu Borgir

Anouther valid point. Lamentably I cannot follow your namesake - vote of 5.

Actually that's a myth and is probably used by your unsuccessful female friends to justify their failure. Women make the same amount of money as men on average, until they leave the workforce for child birth. Then they experience a wage setback, because they have not worked as long. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's foolish to assume that most women wouldn't rather stay home and raise a family than work. It's in their nature, just like being messy is in ours.

A fair point. I have no idea whether that is true or not.

But I just said they were capable.

From what I've read, the average woman's salary is a few thousand less than the average man's. But if you exclude women who have left the workforce for childbirth or raising a child, then the average is (if recollection serves) actually slightly higher than a man's.

Capable is subjective. Taller people average more money than shorter people, and I doubt they're somehow more "capable". It could be that they're just too shy.

Again, good point. I now feel completely out maneuvered and, frankly, pretty stupid. :((

Calling yourself stupid is a good way to get out of a promotion.

Well, that's alright. I can't be promoted anyway :)

And yet, look at all the posts here arguing semantics when it comes to war, politics, immigration, marriage...
That's a good point. For example, someone suggested "civil union" instead of "gay marriage", but it doesn't change the underlying reality that two people of the same sex are living together. And who cares anyway?

Obviously, a very vocal segment of the population who want to prevent it. The evolution of the human genome is too important to be left to chance.

Duh. I mean, marriage depends on having all parties agreeing to the meaning of certain words. Treating them with disrespect just makes the whole thing meaningless. If we allow just anyone to call their relationship a "marriage", why, we might as well just allow any kind of disrespect... Next we'll be seeing people getting divorced, cheating on their spouses, possibly even bizarre "open marriages"... Oh.

So are you saying that you want all those things to be integral parts of marriage?

brianwelsch quoted:
God is male and that men are superior to women
Changing the language isn't going to change the underlying reality. This is actually one of the things I dislike about religion: it tries to say that men were created first and that men are the creator (in the image of god) when it's perfectly obvious to anyone born from a woman that it's the other freakin' way around.
I think the "we are the superior sex" is another variation of the penis complex. :)

I think, if you think your penis is complex, you have bigger issues...
