It's probably a legacy from so far back in time, the brits still hadn't been conquered by the romans. :)

Racism is looking at a Black person and say "they are different to me". Why do people have to be white Americans or Black Americans. Why cant you look at a Black person and say "there goes my American brother"? Your background does not define you as a person. You poor little hate filled person. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear

Well, I wouldn't say that recognizing visual differences between people is racism. But letting those differences affect how you treat those who are different from you, is. It's tantamount to treating people with straight hair differently than people with curly hair. Doesn't really compute. In my mind at least. On the other hand - when you choose a partner; is the rejection of a person racism, if you consider his or her looks? For instance, east asian people have narrow eyes. If you don't find that attractive, and you choose not to date him or her because of that, are you then a racist? Would it be different from rejecting people with curly hair, because you really dig people with straight hair? I can agree on that it's superficial, but I'm not too sure that it's racist. Defining racism is hard. You could probably nail a definition which 90% of everybody would agree on, but never 100%.

No it's not. It's a person of any race looking at another person and determining that he is superior solely based on race.

Huh? Your background is what develops your character and defines you as a quality or a worthless person.

The whites being searched could be just a pretence. It's important to double check all brown people - so since they cannot racially profile people, they need to do dummy checks on some whites and blacks too :-) Just a theory of course.

Actually most of the searches are based upon a code written on your boarding pass. I discovered this when I was pulled out of line and had to stand in a queue for a flight to Seattle from Boston two years ago. There are a variety of codes, my particular code (and I checked with the guy in line behind me who was also caucasian and had the same code on his boarding pass) was because I'd bought the plane ticket the day before. And I'm as Boston as they come having been born and raised a little ways north of there. Mike Poz

Jesus H. Christ. I actually agreed that the time for the things you listed has passed. But I also picked apart how it didn't answer my question. The original assertion that whites are being asked to ignore whites in order to support other races is pure hyperbole, and I couldn't let it to go unchallenged. Here's what it all comes down to for me: 1. There is no such thing as race. It is a scientifically invalid concept. (In other words: there is more variation within a so called "race" than there is between races, so there's no point in paying attention to race.) 2. Racists still exist. And you don't have to be white to be one. 3. Whites still have the power in this country, but then we are a mostly white country. Minorities used to have zero power, and this has changed dramatically through extraordinary efforts by people of all races. We are not there yet. (See #2.) 4. If given a level playing field, skewing things in favor for minorities only perpetuates inferiority. 5. When not given a level playing field, those who are in power and making the field unlevel should be forced to make it level. 6. If you believe everything is now on a level field for everybody, you live in a fantasy world.

It's not hyperbole when where you work, live or go to school "diversity" is chosen over "ability". BTW, "diversity" is the new name for "affirmative action". And I know quite a few white guys who got shafted because of "diversity". Mike Poz

Until I graduated from high school and enlisted in the Marines, I had no idea I was racist. I just thought I was a fair skinned American who had white, black, asian, latin (and a mix of all those) friends and neighbors. It was pointed out to me by a number of black Marines from the south that since I'm white, I am racist because I didn't "understand the black man" and because I didn't feel "sorry for the abuses heaped upon the black man in the form of slavery." The point I wnt to make is we should recognise the similarities between ourselves and others and not concentrate on the differences.

Well why don't you tell that to the illegal immigrants here that march with signs saying that Americans are "nazis" for wanting to send them back Stand rigid for the next battle Peace means reloading your guns The love for life is all hatred in disguise - Dimmu Borgir

Ummm....how would I tell them? Messenger piggion perhaps? I dont think then tend to hang around here much. I doubt there are many of them that feel that way but as usual you only see the extremes. I would imagine that is directed more at the policy of your goverenment than a blanket statement about American people. Hell if they meant all American people that would include all the non illigal immigrants from their own country. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear

It was directed at the american people that care enough about their country to want the illegal immigrants to get out.
