If you're using .NET then Infragistics is the best. Period. If someone tells you otherwise, they're lying. :) Josh

I also use Infragistics controls, and find them very good, but what really puts the icing on the cake for me, is the support. I have never emailed in a support request and not got back the answer I required. Most often the reply to my questions are returned with a small code sample showing the actual code. Fantastic !!!! Hello, I finally "decided" (was forced ) to use a UI Suite on my programs. But there are a lot out there. Which is in your opinion the best one ? Ben - edit - Ups sorry totally forgot. I'm just a boring MSVC++ developer :^)

hello, Does anyone know a free alternative? $ 945.25 (764 EUR) for Infragistics NetAdvantage .NET 2006 Volume 2 is not cheap. :omg: gtz, Niko

Everyone gave their opinions about managed Suites. The best unmanaged suite in my opinion is BCG[^] We evaluated a lot of suites and came to this in the end.

IMHO they used to be the best unmanaged suite... until they started charging for it. Regards Thomas

I've spent a year on a project using various componentone components. They were nice but Infragistics looks better. I plan on using them for the next project.

I am currently using telerik radControls suite in a new project I'm working on. So far the controls seem pretty decent and the support is quite good. Support turn-around is fairly quick (accounting for time changes, they are based in Bulgaria) and often includes sample projects they create and provide as examples. I've never used Infragistics before, so when this project ends, I may give them a look, with an eye towards picking a winner for future projects.

OK, all you Infragistics fans out there: how many of you have used other UI suites? Infragistics is the most popular suite, but before you all worship it to death, tell us what it's better than. My experience is that vendors that sell specialized UI components (not in a suite) usually tend to be much better than any of the "complete suite" vendors. This may change in the future, but that's my 2 cents. In any case, most of the major American component vendors can be found here: http://www.components.org/About/cvcmembers.aspx It's not a complete list, but it's easier to search through than going to all the reseller sites.

Yes, they are also better than most other reporting for .net components. As for what's better than using Crystal Reports, ummm..name just about any horrific activity you can think of, it's still better than using Crystal Reports. I have gray hairs that I can specifically attribute to Crystal Reports.

Um, Access Reports served through a webserver. That's worse than Crystal. Not much, but it is worse. Payton Byrd blogs.ittoolbox.com/visualbasic/dotnet

Every .NET developer should have the following: Infragistics NetAdvantage Telerik RAD Controls Suite DevExpress (Suite or Reports) Infragistics, by far, has the best control set - they solved the component "craddle to grave" approach nicely meaning that you get an installer that does the job right, utilities that support project updating and vs.net toolbox installation. The help and support is also very good. Telerik (asp.net) are almost as good as Infragistics, focusing mostly on asp.net - the only annoying features are the installation, project updating, toolbox installation and in some cases the help. DevExpress - I've only used the Reports component, and it p^sses over alot of reporting components such as Crystal Reports, ActiveReports and ComponentOne to name but a few. Easy to use, flexible and a great reporting component. Get subscriptions with these components - it pays in the long run trust me :-D You should haven't have to invest much more the £1,500 to £2,000 (GBP) in all the products mentioned in this post. I also use the Xceed, ComponentArt Web.UI suites - but mainly for some web presentation, ZIP and FTP capabilities. Hope this helps :)

Dunno if I'm lying or not but I can tell you from my experience - Infragistics can be a performance killer for any ASP.Net app. But then, the question here is winforms which I have no idea. And I agree to most of the views posted about Crystal Reports. Its hell on earth!

For starters, the report designer is absolutely horrific to work with. Try doing anything more than a simple report and you'll see what I mean. Keep in mind that I haven't even looked at it in 14 months or so. It could have improved since then. Cheers, Drew.

I've used a few different packages, including Infragistics, and my personal favorite is Teleriks R.A.D Controls. Easier to use in my opinion, that's all. http://www.telerik.com/asp-net-controls/ui-components/overview.aspx[^] Michael J. Collins Web Application Programmer
