As some of you know I am a bit of Palm Zealot, anyway I recently started using the coolest piece of software Repligo. Its a very nifty piece of software for allowing you to read any document on your Palm, I read mostly research papers. Anyway the "viewer" on the Palm has the ability to highly text, in the same way as you would do with a highlighter pen. I got kindof annoyed because I wanted to keep the "highlighted" version of the document. So started to try to print the document from my Palm .. crazy huh! (its supports bluetooth/infrared printing from the Palm, I have neither ... I wonder if you can make your desktop emulate one ?). Eventually I had a moment of clarity, saved the document on my Palm and copied it off. Opened the document in the desktop viewer, see the results here ... very cool ... I can reproduce the document perfectly in its orginal format on the desktop, including highlights. Or I can look it device optimized format on the Palm ... I'm in heaven. Will try and get a Palm screenshot. Question still remains, can I turn my desktop into a bluetooth printer, given access to network printers ? The easy part is equipping your machine to talk Bluetooth. There are litterally dozens of USB Bluetooth dongles available. Get one that comes with the WIDDCOMM Bluetooth stack. The difficult part is providing a printing profile/service. Anything that is done over Bluetooth is done via a service/profile. Priniting will have it's own service/profile, and it will this that you attach to the printer. I've checked my own WIDDCOMM powered dongle and it doesn't come with a printing profile/service.
