pop the question with a parallel thread that pops the ring in the same time. You give 2 rings to a woman in your life... engaging and marrying. :-D I've found a living worth working for, but I haven't found work worth living for.

Personally though, I have no love for rocks and stones... and never figured out why people spend so much money... on a piece of rock. Norman Fung

I just bought the stone and gave that to her. She got to pick out the setting that she wanted afterward. So, the way it worked for me was that I bought an engagement set: the ring with the stone in it, and then an additional band to be fused to the engagment ring just prior to the wedding. Anything else you give her in addition to the ring is just gravy. :) Congrats! Jon Sagara When I grow up, I'm changing my name to Joe Kickass! My Site | My Blog | My Articles

Do you give her the ring when you propose? Or when you actually get married? How is this done? What do you give when you propose? Just flowers? never done this before ... Norman Fung

I guess I'm old-fashioned. I proposed over the telephone, but I did already have a ring picked out. It must have been the right one, because she is still wearing it to this day, 24 years later. Congrats and hope things go well for you. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian. I was a very poor college student when I proposed. Afterward, we purchased a simple, but attractive, combination engagement/wedding ring for her. One condition was that I wouldn't wear a ring--I loathe wearing jewelry of all types. (My wife doesn't like most jewelry either so she understood.) For a wedding ceremony, I suggest the one from Joe Versus the Volcano: Waponi Chief: Do you want to marry him? Patricia: Yes. Waponi Chief: Do you want to marry her? Joe Banks: Yes. Waponi Chief: Good. You're married. Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke
