I just had my third lesson today. It is hard to learn, but hard to forget, since there are almost always a reason on why a word is constructed that way. For instance, the word "good" in chinese is actually a combination of the word "son" and "daughter" in Chinese. This somehow reflects how the Chinese think: having a son and daughter is good. :) Anyone learning Chinese too?

Do you know of any English-based forums which are focused on Chinese-related stuff? I am thinking about a job offer in Hong Kong, what do you think?

My last job offered lessons. I found it incredibly difficult with the four tongs. I could never get the accents right. And to write! If I ever get more time I'm going to try to study it again. Facinating language and culture.
