The World Cup happens every 4 years as does the Olympics, with two years apart. Is the Olympic soccer game not as important as the World Cup? Aren't the same players used? When talking about the country to beat at the WC, they suually mention the last country that won the WC and not the one that won the Olympic game which is more recent. How come?

Used to be. Now professional sportsman represent their countries. For instance, Lawn Tennis, Basketball, and Field Athletics. Also, not all footballing nations are represented. The UK does not provide a soccer team for the olympics because of the individual football associations in Britain do not permit a UK team and individual nations - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - are not UK, just regions of the UK in the same way that Bavaria is a region of Germany.

It would be impossible within the duration of the Olympics ( 2 weeks ) to hold a proper International football tournament. Also, the Olympic force an age limit ( 23 years old, except for 3 players per team for the man teams, and no age limit for the women teams )

I wonder why they allow 3 for the men above 23? Either have an age restriction or none. Why three? Now there's sexism between the men and women. :)

More likely to be 3 below 23. Regards, Nish

In the Olympics the athletes in the soccer teams cannot be older than 23, or only 2-3 can be older than 23, thought they all can be professionals. Michael Martin Australia "I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible." - Mr.Prakash 24/04/2004
