VS2005 ROTD (Rant of the day!)

The icon creation guide for XP style icons said to have your graphics artist make a highres one in photoshop and scale it to each required resolution after making it suitably shiny. VS05 didn't upgrade the icon tools because devs aren't supposed to be creating icons anymore.

but I/we cannot "edit" the toolbar in VS.net 2003, it wants to convert the bitmap to 16 colors. for example, if I want to add a spacer between to buttons, I need to have access to the toolbar editor ( not the toolbar bitmap editor )

or, rather we can, but make them placeholders - i dunno, stick figures...yeah, that must be the way - stick_figure OPEN and FOLDER icons. anyone care to draw those for a good laugh? rara avis in terris

Yeah, that works really well when you work for a big multinational corporation and you're told that the commercial art department will get to your request for 7 stinking icons sometime in Q2 of 2007.

heheh agreed. but without a toolbar editor how is a developer meant to work with the shiny images when he eventually gets them from the art department?! answer obviously is the hard way - by hand! -- The Obliterator
